At #25 is SURVIVOR: REDEMPTION ISLAND
I found this season to be watchable, which is why the likes of Fiji and Thailand fall below it, but honestly Rob Mariano's 'buddy system' and controlling gameplay - while great strategy - made the whole season pretty fucking dull to watch.
Mixing 3 and 4 time players with noobs is dumb, but the producers did it again the following season because...I don't even know why? The noobs stand little chance, it's not fair and leads to dumb seasons where Jeff's favourite boy crushes from seasons past dominate.
Lets start at the beginning, It's a shame Francesca began her trend of finishing last as she was one of a few who may not have followed Rob, and to be honest i'd have liked to see her feud with Phillip develop further. And then Russell's torch was snuffed, while it was fun to see him cry like a little bitch after he lost at redemption this meant that the greatly anticipated Rob vs Russell rematch didn't even happen. Had it happened it would have made Rob's path harder, which is pretty much the core element that was needed to make the season more interesting.
Aside from Rob, Phillip was a great character this season. While being annoying and ridiculous he did fill up some of the show that would otherwise be filled with episode after episode of the former Ometepe tribe running around collecting firewood in pairs while avoiding the former Zapatera tribe. I chose Ralph voting for 'RESSELL' as the picture for this blog because his bad spelling continually made me laugh at tribals, and even at the final tribal council I was able to appreciate that David was such a non-bitter juror. But all things considered, this season has few highlights.
Moving on to Redemption Island. I hate this twist, I really do. I can see merit in the arguments that it should be included in Blood vs Water seasons, but honestly most seasons with it are a big stinking pile of shit. And that's all I have to say about that.
