It was pretty clever of him to make everyone stay at camp and not go off and have side convos to protect himself from using the idol, his flaw was his ARROGANCE
Arrogance will kill you in Survivor, he thought he was safe because of how insane J'Tia is so that he didn't bring his idol and he threw his ally under the bus because he felt THAT secure that J'Tia was going home
All he did was simply FORGET that you should never feel safe in the game of Survivor :))))))))))

I feel like his mind wasn't really in the game either. I don't know. He was already bitching about not having fun after having voted in the majority AND having an Idol. He would have totally 'self-imploded' some more during that storm they showed in next weeks preview.
