This one may be a shocker to some people yes, but it is ranked low for a reason. Most first seasons, when the host has just started, don't tend to be as good at the rest. It was a season which was enjoyable, yet quite unfair. The Equal Merge and Shadow Survivor twists should never have been invented. The two twists are as follows:
Equal Merge:
After four consecutive wins, the Jaburu tribe was sent to Tribal Council four straight times to even out the tribes. The twist returned after the merge, this time effecting the remaining Tambaqui members until the Final Four.
Shadow Survivor:
The Shadow Survivor was someone who was voting at every tribal, but it was unknown who he was. He could also change someone's vote each Tribal. It was then found out on Day 8 that the Shadow Survivor was Hudspith, who then entered the game as a fully fledged castaway.
Yes, I know. They are bad and unfair. However it was my first season, and I just wanted to have some fun LOL. Luckily due to the epicaly high amount of returnees in future seasons, most of this cast got another go on a fairer season.
The season itself was pretty good for a first season, and brought out some of the top players who were to play later on like BENLINUS and Gaiaphage. Jhelsdon was a decent winner too who played an average game.
Fave Castaway on Season = Mr LINUS the Cocktail Maker

I agree with the 'first seasons are usually a fiasco" thing :P
But yikes, I always wondered why the "Equal Merge" twist was used o_o
