I don't think bullying is that big of an issue. I actually think the word is way over-used. Nowadays if you get into a physical altercation and you're the first to hit you're likely to be called a bully whether the first hit was necessary or not.
I think most kids these days are too soft. They don't know how to take criticism well. Everyone gets talked about, and not everyone knows how to deal with it. Virtually every school has anti-bullying programs and clearly they're not working because telling people to "stop bullying!" isn't going to do anything. You have to teach kids how to be mentally strong enough to handle haters tell them how to handle situations when they're being made fun of. I'm sure kids in the 80's were just as mean, if not meaner than they were in this generation. The only difference now is that we have the internet and bullying is an easier thing to do. But besides that, bullying has been a thing since the beginning of time.

Bullying is an act of cruelty.
Do not be confused and say that it is criticism, when it is not.
Someone may interpret criticism as bullying, but that is not correct.
When a person intentionally talks shit about a person they don't know the first thing about based on their appearance, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc, that is fucked up and serious shit.
Bullying is a serious issue, that is unnecessary, cruel, and obnoxious, and can destroy someone emotionally and psychologically.
It does not have to be a physical altercation, and being "mentally tough" is not a valid excuse to allow someone to be verbally abused by others.

pieguy555 No problemo, I get like that too, you have no need to apologize. Sometimes people need to get intense to show their emotion through a comment and it helped me view things differently.
