Dream 1: Hanging in Hell

I've had a recurring dream for a few years now. The details change every time but the basics are the same. I am hanging onto a pole, handhold, bar, or small ladder in a cavernous room that has no bottom. The roof is solid stone and the walls are far apart.

Every time I dream this, I try in vain to find a way out by swinging back and forth on the bar attempting to land in an imaginary opening in the wall or sometimes just find a way to seat myself or latch myself to the thing I am holding on to so that I don't fall into the bottomless pit.

My most recent occurrence of this dream, however was more detailed.
Instead of the bare and flat stone walls... they were jagged rocks and the normally gray light in the room is now a reddish tint. There is still the bottomless pit but now there is an exit far in the distance to the right that looks more like a furnace from hell. Instead of me being by myself there are many small ladders hanging from the ceiling of different lengths... There are other people hanging from some of the ladders but they are far in the distance. I can also see that some of the people have been able to break some ladders and fasion small bridges from one ladder to another... and the few that are using these are killing other "hanger ons" for their meat... trying to survive. It's all very crazy.

maybe like you are holding on to something that you need to let go. So instead of swinging you should just let go and fall.
