I feel like Konohavillage1 and I are the only users who remember what happened to BOTH Duels.
It's making me crazy that hundreds of people have no recollection of basically ignoring the game. I don't know, even when I haven't played a game for weeks, I peek at the enrolling games. Just like with the foreign language Castings, Duels took days to fill.
I understand that people like options and that's fine.
But Rando does most of this site all by himself.
And I have a good feeling that Rando has kept all of his original coding somewhere (I used to, even if it created a nightmare, each program meant something to me).
In terms of reimplementing coding, that is not the problem.
The problem space for a game which is, to be fair, just for having an extra game.
Everyone wants it for selfish reason.
Every.single.one.is.selfish.
"I loved it!" Did you really?
"It was the best game!" No, it really wasn't.
"I never got to play!" You never got French Castings or Hot and Cold Guitar either, yet you're still content here. Strange...
"I could practice challenges in there!" Selfish and most believable reason people want it back.
We just just have full practice links as an individual thing. 5T$ to play each time, like a slot machine.
Then you can practice a particular challenge rather than, you know, Deal again and again. ;)
Problem solved, right?
Shall I play my 6+ years card to win Rando's opinion? *facepalm*

Yes I loved it. It's where I met a WHOLE lot of old school tengagers who were too cool for frookies or any other game then survivor.
I want the duel back.
Petunia Perhaps with version 2 you did, not version 1. Version one went completely irrelevant until it disappeared. No one cared until it went. Sorry I remember?
Think about how this community is. We consider relevance as most important, right?
Well then, Duel is only relevant while it's gone. It's only popular now no one can play it.
But the thing is, what did you, as a tengager, lose by not playing the duel? Just because it rarely filled doesn't mean that it never did, and the rest of the site was not impacted at all by this. Logistically speaking, there's no reason NOT to have it.

And I guess you're in that group? It wasn't popular, it was exclusive.

Yoshitomi I never played the first version of the duel haha but there's only a select few people who really play frookies. And there's only a select few that play hunger games as well. You get the same group of people in every hunger games cycle. I don't think the duel is any different with people as them :D
Maxiphone27 Space for implementing things like Shops, Hunger, Frats. Extra space for more important updates rather than a has-been game.
Rando removed it for a reason. Like he removed the 6 language options for Castings.
He didn't have to, people like choice! People like options!
But if very few people are using it, why have it there? It becomes a useless option which takes up space.
yoshitomi it may take up space, but it's taking up that space anyway right now. The duel is still a part of the website's coding, as evidenced by the "enrolling" duel that's been there for 800 days. He didn't remove the game, just the way to enroll. And even if it did take up more space, it really wouldn't take up that much (especially if games rarely filled) and the server space could easily be expanded, I'm sure. It's not like any other updates are happening anyway. (Not that having no updates is a bad thing, but my point is that the space is not being used anyway, so why not use it on *something* rather than junk.)
This is a sidenote, but i always thought that the reason he removed foreign language castings was so that those people would join regular castings which are exactly the same thing, except they don't trap people for weeks to fill. This is slightly different than removing the duel, to which there is no equivalent game.

Like that, just as links. Pick which comp, 5T$ to play the full practice. Rando could remove that flash games thing and change it to an Arcade Room with all the minigame challenges. XD

With Duel not being a one at a time game, the same group should not be able to play every game. But it filled so slowly, it did happen. This is why it's a problem. :P
i can't believe people want to practice them stupid challenges, if you wanted to sit through 3 mins of maths equations yall should have paid attention in maths class
Maxiphone27 When Duel was removed from the enroll options, so was the last filling game. However, the ghost coding was still there, so people glitched themselves into the game. Rando banned the cast but had to keep the game there as an unplayable game to stop people glitching it. It probably has no algorithm or game mechanics, it's probably just a shell. But that's why it's still there, not just to taunt you. :P
Rando notoriously removes useless and unused things. Like old mails, old game data, stuff like that. Rando truly prizes space over nostalgia or options. XD
With Johneh around making Rando step up, I think we'll be getting more updates. I think we just need less glitchy minigames rather than Duel back. :)

yoshitomi what i'm saying is, if the ghost coding is still there (and i'm pretty sure it was functional too because I remember the cast actually being able to play challenges), then how would making it not be ghost coding take up any sort of space? the code is already there anyway.
I think none of us know exactly how the coding process works, or how much space things take up. We would need randomize to tell us if that was a problem or not, but other than that, we can only speculate.

AFTER it got hacked into. Hence my point. Rando was probably going to remove all of the coding after an update or a clean up, but was forced to when people hacked in.
An empty shell with nothing in it is worth very little in terms of space. If I'm right and people hacked into it again, it probably would never start. They would indeed be trapped in a game.

Well I have a great idea, instead of keeping all the pathetically useless games on this site, lets get rid of them all -__-. Like Rookies for example, and Castings, those two games are really stupid and took no thought to make, I honestly can say that we should have 2 other games in their place.
