**44.4% voted for Zale to help Eden and 44.4% voted for Zale to help Chandler. Tie broken by Carly.**

Covered in blood and dirt, Zale takes off his shirt, turns it inside out and wipes his face followed by his knife. Sweat runs down his body and over his muscular build. Looking up he notices Eden checking him out before quickly turning back to the highway ahead. He smirks and walks faster to catch up with her.

ZALE: Hey.
EDEN: Hey.

After a few moments of silence, Eden stops and turns to Zale.

EDEN: I know I’ve said this already, but thank you for what you did.
ZALE: You don’t have to thank me.
EDEN: I just panicked. They were coming from the woods and surrounding me. I saw the car and jumped in.
ZALE: There’s nothing wrong about that.

Eden looks back up the highway seeing Nate and Chandler walking side by side.

EDEN: She won’t even look at me. Not even a rant about how weak I am.
ZALE: Hey, you are not weak. Don’t say that again.

Looking into each other's eyes, Eden blushes and slightly smiles.

EDEN: Ok. I won’t.
ZALE: Good, because I’m not a big fan of repeating myself.

They share a small laugh causing Chandler to turn around with annoyance on her face.

CHANDLER: You guys going to just stop and chat all day?

Chandler turns back around, shaking her head. Zale and Eden smirk and continue to follow Chandler and Nate.

NATE: You don’t have to be so harsh.
CHANDLER: What happened last night was bullshit.
NATE: Zale saving Eden?
CHANDLER: She should be able to handle herself by now.
NATE: Look I get that and all, but not everyone is made for this.
CHANDLER: Clearly.
NATE: Regardless, she’s one of us and maybe instead of criticizing her you should get to know her.

Chandler scoffs.

NATE: I’m serious.
CHANDLER: I already know what matters. She’s weak and I’m not about to let her hold us back. Period.

Chandler walks ahead of Nate with determination and purpose, as he looks on with concern.

:::::SCENE 2:::::

Exhausted and worn out, Trent leans his head back in a chair in the living room of Mila’s mansion. In the room, Jeremy sits on the floor with his bloody knife in hand next to Braxton and Declan. Mila paces back and forth in front of the fireplace as Kalista looks out the window. Meredith looks around the room at the faces of her new group and notes the uncertainty in the room. Just then Reina walks into the room with Jude.

REINA: Are they…taken care of?
DECLAN: Yeah. The ones at the gate are all “taken care of.”
REINA: How were they able to make it to the gate?
MILA: I’d like to know that too. I thought we had preventative measures in place to keep them at bay.
JEREMY: We did, but they must have been able to make it past them.
MILA: I just don’t understand how this could have happened.
KALISTA: What’s so hard to understand? Clearly, some members aren’t as capable as they claim to be.

She glares at Declan, who jumps up.

DECLAN: What’s that suppose to mean?
KALISTA: It means you’re not good at your job.
DECLAN: I’ve yet to see your privileged going out on runs, killing those things, or doing literally anything besides occupy space.
BRAXTON: Hey, knock it off. We don’t need to rehash this again.
KALISTA: Tell that to camera boy over there.

Braxton stands up and makes his way to leave the room.

MILA: Where are you going?
BRAXTON: I’m going to go check the barbed wire fence. See how those things were able to make it to the gate.
TRENT: I’ll go with you. Jeremy, you come too.

Jeremy looks up, a bit surprised, but gets up and walks over to follow the men out the door. Meredith looks around thoughtfully for a moment before following the guys outside. In seconds she’s caught up to them as they prepare to go beyond the gate.

TRENT: What are you doing?
MEREDITH: I’m going with you guys.
TRENT: You should stay back, get some rest. You helped a lot last night.
MEREDITH: I don’t need rest.

He looks into her eyes and sees the insistence. With a slight nod, he holds the gate’s side door open for her to go through. Once the side door is closed and locked, the four survivors make their way beyond the gate.

——Cut To——

Mila sits down on the couch and places her head in her hands while letting out a sigh. Reina sits down next to her and rubs her back.

REINA: It’s going to be ok. Hopefully, it’s just an isolated incident.
MILA: What if it isn’t? What if we have to leave? How will we make it?
DECLAN: No matter what, we will figure things out.

He takes a seat next to her and grabs her hand. She looks at him with tears welling in her eyes.

DECLAN: I’ll always keep you safe.

She leans into him and he holds her as tears fall from her eyes.

——Cut To——

Just a bit beyond the gates in the woods, the foursome come across a barbed wire fence. Trent walks up to the fence and examines it, noticing a gap in a section.

TRENT: Looks like those things chewed their way through the fence, making a gap big enough to walk through.

Meredith gets closer to the gap and notes the clean wire - free of any remnants of blood or guts.

MEREDITH: If they bit their way through the fence then how is there no left over substance?

Trent turns to look at her with a questioning expression, before chuckling.

TRENT: Maybe they had just brushed their teeth?

He turns to walk back up to the mansion.

TRENT: I’ll go get some left over wire and come back to fix it.

Braxton and Jeremy follow Trent back, but Jeremy turns around to see Meredith still looking at the wire.

JEREMY: Hey, are you coming?

The guys stop and look at her.

MEREDITH: I’m going to stay back. Make sure no others come through.
TRENT: Good idea. Jeremy, why don’t you stay with her.
JEREMY: Uh, sure. Ok.

Jeremy makes his way down to Meredith as Braxton and Trent walk out of earshot.

JEREMY: Not sure how much help I’ll be.
MEREDITH: You helped a lot last night.
JEREMY: One of those fight of flight things I guess.

Meredith holds the cut wire and looks down at the two additional cut wires directly below it.

JEREMY: What’s up?
MEREDITH: Nothing chewed through this fence. Look at how clean and precise the cuts are.
JEREMY: What are you saying?
MEREDITH: I’m saying someone deliberately cut this.

——Cut To——

In the backyard, Jude walks around tossing a baseball up in the air. As he inches closer to where the standby generator is located, something catches his eye. Walking over, he notices the generator’s power line has been cut. He looks around with a questioning look.

:::::SCENE 3:::::

Sitting outside on the porch steps, Kevin looks out at the trees as Stacey takes a seat next to him.

KEVIN: I’m sorry. About yesterday. I should have been smarter.
STACEY: You’re right, you should have. But I get it. You want to step out on your own. Do your own thing. But, this isn’t a safe world anymore. There is danger everywhere we turn. I love you and you’re the only family I have left. I’m going to do everything in my power to keep you safe.

Kevin looks down, tears welling in his eyes.

KEVIN: I-I just want to prove myself. I’m more than your little brother.
STACEY: I know you are. You’re technically a man now, which means there are certain things you have to be aware of. You have to be responsible. Take stock of whats around you. Be cautious of strangers. Make mature and rational decisions. Trust me, I miss the days before all this. But those days are gone and we have to get through this together. You and me. With that said, I need you to promise me you won’t ever do something like that on your own again. Not until you’ve gotten more training with how to use a gun and knife.

Kevin looks at her and nods his head, agreeing.

KEVIN: When can we start?
STACEY: Tomorrow morning, we will go on a run. Just the two of us.

Danielle comes outside and leans on the porch railing.

DANIELLE: Listen, Kevin, I’m sorry for being harsh yesterday.
KEVIN: I’m sorry for, well, everything.

Krista and Kinsley join the others outside looking out at the setting sun.

KINSLEY: How long do you think we can stay here?
KRISTA: Not sure. We need to keep moving.
DANIELLE: To where?
KRISTA: I don’t know. But staying in one place too long isn’t safe.
STACEY: She’s right. For now, we’re safe, but we don’t know what’s just beyond those trees.
KINSLEY: I don’t know, I mean this isn’t a bad place to stay for a while.
DANIELLE: What are you suggesting?
KINSLEY: I don’t know, maybe we should consider making this a permanent place to live?

The group falls silent as they contemplate the possibility.

KRISTA: I’m not sure I can do that.
KEVIN: Why not?
KRISTA: I need to find my sister. To find Braxton.
DANIELLE: How do you know they’re still out there?
KRISTA: Just a feeling. Up till now, this has been about survival, but now that we’ve found this place and have been able to really think things through…I need to find them. No matter what state of living they might be in. I have to or else I’ll never be able to live with myself.

Danielle looks over at Krista.

DANIELLE: What are you saying?
KRISTA: I’m saying come tomorrow, I’m going out there to find my family. You guys don’t have to join me, but if you do decide to I’ll let you know when I head out.

She turns and looks at the four others before heading back inside.

KINSLEY: Well, I for one can’t keep roaming from hiding place to hiding place. I want to stay.

She turns around and heads back inside.

DANIELLE: I respect that. How about you two?
KEVIN: I like it here. It’s safe, for the most part. But, I’ll do whatever you want, Stacey.

He gets up and heads into the cabin. Danielle steps down and takes his spot on the porch steps.

STACEY: I can’t leave her alone here. She’s not ready.
DANIELLE: I know.
STACEY: What do you want to do?
DANIELLE: As much as I wouldn't mind trying to see what happens here…I can’t let Krista go out on her own.

Stacey nods in respect to her answer.

STACEY: Kevin is all that I have now. I’m going to keep him safe no matter what.
DANIELLE: I have no one. But Krista does and she deserves closure.
STACEY: I agree.

The two remain quite as they listen to the sound of crickets chirping into the night.

:::::SCENE 4:::::

As night falls, Sage and Miles stop outside at the end of a street. The two story structure looks nearly untouched, minus the one broken window in the front. Off to the back is a detached garage. The two make their way up to the front door and proceed to enter.

Walking inside, they notice a table directly in front of them with a note. Sage picks it up.

SAGE (reading): “Kitchen is cleared out. Garage has water bottles hidden behind the washer.”
MILES: Who leaves a note like that?
SAGE: I don’t know, but maybe we should get out of here.
MILES: Hold up, I want to check this place out.
SAGE: I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Miles makes his way down the hall and out of view towards the kitchen. Sage looks around at the dark interior and his eyes scan the stairs which lead to blackness. As he walks down the hall, following Miles, he hears a creak from upstairs. Stopping in his tracks, sweat starts to stream down his face. Turning back, he sees nothing behind him. Moving forward he enters the kitchen, but Miles isn’t anywhere to be seen.

SAGE (whispers): Miles? Miles!?

Looking towards the back door, he notices it is open. Walking through it Sage sees the side door to the garage is slightly open. Pulling out his knife, he inches closer to the door. Slowly he pushes it open and peeks inside. Darkness fills the room and nothing can be seen. As he pushes the door open he feels a presence behind him.

WACK!

Sage is hit in the back of his head and falls to the ground unconscious.

——Cut To——

Groggy and disoriented, Sage slowly opens his eyes. He realizes he is sitting up against a wall with his hands and legs tied.

SAGE: He…help. Miles…
RAMON: Oh look, sleeping beauty finally awakes.

As his eyes adjust to the darkness, Sage notices a figure standing in front of him. He turns his head and sees Miles sitting next to him, tied up and slowing regaining consciousness.

RAMON: Make that two sleepers finally waking.

Just then a light turns on, making it a bit easier to see. Sage takes in the room as being the garage. A washer and dryer are in the back corner while an assortment of other things is scattered about. Fully awake, Miles turns to Sage and then back to the man.

MILES: What do you want?
RAMON: You know, a greeting such as “Hi” would be nice.

The man chuckles before squatting down to be at eye level with Miles and Sage.

RAMON: What are your names?
SAGE: You first.
RAMON: Smart, kid. I like it. The name is Ramon. And you are?
MILES: No. Not until you tell us what you want.

Ramon signs and shakes his head.

RAMON: I knew you would be the toughest one yet.

He stands up and lets out a quick whistle. In seconds, two more men make their way into the garage and flank Ramon.

RAMON: Maybe my associates will be able to make you spill your guts…metaphorically speaking of course.

Looking up at the men, Miles’ eyes widen causing Sage to look between him and the men before them.

RAMON: Scared?
WILLIAM: They should be.
MILES: Rodney?

Ramon, William and Sage turn their attention to the man standing to the left of Ramon.

RAMON: You know this kid?
RODNEY: I do. He’s my brother.

Ramon smiles and lets out a chuckle.

RAMON: What. A. Small. World! Now, take them to the shed.

His face becomes serious as William and Rodney move towards Sage and Miles.

MILES: Rodney, what is going on? What are you doing?
RODNEY: My job.

Rodney forcibly pulls Miles up from the ground, as William does the same to Sage, and marches them out of the garage.

——Cut To——

The shed doors open and Miles gets thrown inside followed by Sage. The two fall to the ground as the door closes. A dim mini lantern lights the small shed just enough to look around. Sitting up, Sage quickly lands on four sets of eyes staring back at him.

One of the figures picks up the mini lantern, exposing the faces of the four people clearly.

Miles and Sage look over at the older woman holding the lantern and note the younger man next to her. Near him sits two young girls - one of whom is in a wheelchair.

ZELMA: Looks like we have new roommates.

:::::SCENE 5:::::

Gathered in the living room of Mila’s mansion, the survivors look at Trent who stands in the middle of the room.

TRENT: The fence has been repaired and should keep those things away from the gate. But, I think this incident has to be a wake-up call for all of us. While we’ve been good here up until now, we have to seriously consider some things.
MILA: Such as?
TRENT: That maybe we should relocate.
MILA: No, absolutely not. This is my home.
TRENT: I get that, but what happens if they chew through the fence again?
MEREDITH: They didn’t chew through the fence.

Everyone turns around and looks back at Meredith.

TRENT: Did you see something the rest of us didn’t?
MEREDITH: The barbed wire had no residue on it. The cut was straight through. The wire isn’t soft enough to bite through, especially in one bite.

A silence falls over the room as looks switch between Trent and Meredith.

JUDE: Also, outside, the generator’s power cord was cut.
REINA: So, it didn't just stop working?
KALISTA: So wait, someone is deliberately fucking with us?

Trent, looking agitated, clears his throat.

TRENT: Let’s all calm down.
MILA: How can we calm down if someone is pulling all this stuff?
DECLAN: Who would do it though?
REINA: And why?

As everyone begins to talk over each other, Trent looks over at Meredith who glares at him.

TRENT: Everyone, quiet! Look, I know this is unsettling, but we need to keep our heads on.
MILA: Someone in this room is trying to sabotage us!
BRAXTON: Hey, let’s ease up on pointing fingers.
MILA: What else could it be?
BRAXTON: Someone could have sneaked onto the property.
MILA: There’s a giant fence around my property.
JEREMY: Someone could have easily jumped over.
KALISTA: Well that’s comforting.
TRENT: Either way, we have to make a decision. Stay here and build up our defenses. Or leave.

The group grows quiet and ponders the choice.

REINA: We should vote. We’re a group and the decision should be made together.
TRENT: That’s fair. I think it’s best we relocate.
JUDE: I’m with dad. It’s not safe here anymore.
MILA: I do not want to leave my home.
DECLAN: Where Mila is, that’s where I’ll be.
REINA: Honestly, I’m in no real condition to leave.
KALISTA: I’m not about to leave just to get eaten out there.
BRAXTON: I’ve thought about this for a while. I need to find Krista, so I’m ok with leaving.
JEREMY: Given the situation, It might be best to leave.

All eyes turn to Meredith.

TRENT: Looks like you’re the deciding vote. What will it be?
