                                                            Episode 3: Blood

This was it. They had lived in that tiny little ground floor flat for the last two weeks, quietly in hiding, quietly sitting, quietly fading from existence. Now, they were all on the move, carrying their belongs in their arms or on their backs with a knife or hammer in hand in case of any sight of a Walker. Harriet stayed behind Kerry, only a few inches away while she gazed at the broken world around her.

The sky was dead. Grey clouds swarming over the rooftops of the once busy shops. Cars were left abounded in the middle of the glass covered road and streetlamps that had fallen to the ground lay on top of the dead.
Suddenly a faint growling sound could be heard from in front but none of them could see what was making the noise they all had grown to know far to well. Walker. There was a Walker somewhere ahead, maybe two by the volume of bitter twisted moans that were coming from near by.
“Stop.” Oliver whispered, putting his hand behind him to warn the group to stand still.
“Don’t make a sound. Be very careful”
They all looked ahead, trying to spot the Walker amongst the rumble and ruin that lay in front of them. The dead were everywhere, with each few steps they took they had to carefully step over another body and hope that it didn’t wake up and tear a chunk of flesh from their limbs.
“What if it’s on the ground?”
“Keep an eye out” said Martin, his voice cracking near the end.
The group continued to shuffle along, all but Harriet wrapping the palms of their hands around the handle of their chosen weapon. They got to the front of a lorry, door wide open from where the driver would have fled from the scene when everything went to hell. Oliver crept round the bonnet and peered around the corner and down the side of the van, where a Walker began to rip open a dead mans stomach, fingers dug into the cold flesh and with one pull it pierced the skin with it’s nails and tore it open, spreading the guts of a young man along the concrete ground.

Oliver got grip of the axe in his right hand and began to slowly edge his way closer to the Walker as it feasted on another victim. Oliver hadn’t had to kill in a while and the feeling of remorse and sorrow had made it’s way into his veins as sweat dripped off from the back of his neck. Quick and fast. That’s all you need. One quick motion onto the top of the skull, slicing through the scalp and cutting into the brain. The brain was the most important. Damage the brain and the Walker falls, anything else and it stays alive (however much a dead human walking can be alive) and will continue to attack till either you, or it, makes the kill. And with this thought running around on a cycle at the back of his mind, he knew that if he had one false move, one silly mistake, he wouldn’t live to regret it. Oliver felt his heart bounding at his skin and bone chest and with the strength left in his body, he thought it would break through the rags that were his ribs.

He was inches away from the Walker. Oliver lifted the axe above his head, aiming for the centre of it’s skull. One, quick slice through the air. Just one quick slice throu… And with that, the axe came shooting down, slicing through the Walkers head allowing blood to spill up his arm and across the road as the blade cut into the centre of it’s decayed brain. Blood. This was there world now, full of blood and murder. Brutal murder of once innocent men and women turned into savages; and as the Walker’s body collapsed to the cold ground he couldn’t help but wonder who he actually just killed. Who was the man, no older than 25, that he had just murdered in the middle of a road full of bodies? Did he have children? Was he married?

The group continued to move forward, all coming back to the realisation of the world they were living in. Tyler looked at Harriet, her face looking starved and empty, lost for energy and any sort of hope; as if a 12 year old girl was wishing for death.
“How far are the cars?” Harriet managed to force out from her empty lungs.
“Not far now, we’ll be there soon” Kerry replied, trying to give the young girl some sort of uplifting news but yet she just sighed and looked down to the floor, pulling her legs along to keep up with the group.

They had been walking for the last 40 minutes, dodging down back lanes and killing Walkers when needed. The sun was shinning down on the exhausted group and with each painful step they took, they all couldn’t help but wonder if they had made the right decision on leaving their hiding home.
“You ok?” asked Jason, lightly putting Ella’s hand into his as both of them walked behind the others. She hesitated. Her eyes were gradually dropping and she felt like her skin would peel away from her body.
“I’m shattered” she finally said, ending the silence.
“I know. Me too. Are you hungry?”
“I can wait”
“Who has the food box?”
“I do” Sara whispered through her aching throat while turning around to look at the others behind her and noticed she was in front. “Can someone take it?”
“Pass it here”
Sara gently lifted it into Sally’s arms and smiled.

She turned back round and looked into the distance of the hidden street road they were now in. A few bodies lying dead up against the walls, each one with a bullet in the head and as she looked past this, desperately trying to ignore the putrid smell of roasting flesh in the burning sun; she could just make out the silhouette of 3 cars in the distance. They were nearly there. But then what? Where should they drive to? Where will they end up? What or who was waiting for them in the near future. What hope did they have?

Their world was full of death. Full of Walkers. Full of…

Blood.

You should make a group and make it about the walking dead and you RP. That would be really cool!
