- This is based on my personal opinion - I mean there's a reason it's MY LIST. Please do not take any offense from what I think of. Strictly my own thoughts
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's, although I have no idea if it's useful to post that because every year there are some idiots crying about their favs. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make. Yes, I did have a lot of experience in music, going to music school etc., that doesn't make my opinion more valid than anyone else's.
16. KNK - Back Again
I am still kind of bitter that the introduction of this boy group made their label completely forget about BESTie's existence. Their debut song was really meh, probably above your typical boygroup song, but nothing special to the extent of me wanting to write a paragraph about them. "Back Again" changes that, with the producers likely to be inspired by the sound of Infinite's best songs. Whatever their songwriter ripped off (the song itself sounds extremely familiar), it works, although they could have tuned up the instrumentation in the chorus a bit, because that part sounds a bit odd in comparison to rather loud verses. Nevertheless, this song is great, pity they probably won't ever release something as good in near future.
15. Red Velvet - Russian Roulette
Red Velvet isn't really a weird group conceptually, their fucking name already suggests what kind of music would be their signature sound, but the problem is: until the release of "Russian Roulette," their song were either RED or VELVET (maybe except for Ice Cream Cake), but never combined both of the sounds together properly. In this comeback, their vocals sound quite smooth (except for the b-b-b-b-beat parts), but it's mainly backed with a pop-oriented production and this is pretty much what I imagined their music should have been in first. Now, the name Red Velvet makes full sense to me.
14. BLACKPINK - Playing With Fire
Now that 2NE1 is done for good, YG has provided us with a proper replacement for this new generation of girl groups. BLACKPINK is pretty much 2NE1 2.0 except for plastic surgery (for now) and even their CEO admitted that it is the way I said it is. They even have the same fucking producers as their senior group for their songs. Hopefully, if that continues, it means that more great songs like "Playing With Fire" are going to be released, but let's just hope they won't be forced to sing over a track similar to 2NE1's horrid "Do You Love Me." BLACKPINK already has one shitty song and I don't want that tally to increase (although we know that is bound to happen anyway).
13. Sistar & Giorgio Moroder - One More Day
I'm still stunned on how they managed to fucking put a corpse inside a baggage, bet chopping the body took long enough. Back to the song, I am amazed that SISTAR managed to release not one, but two great feature songs, and the fact that they even got to collaborate with someone as big as Giorgio Moroder just shows how much the group has evolved musically, especially when you compare that to horrible songs like "Shake It." Of course, Hyorin is still gonna insist that they are not the next Pussycat Dolls, but she can do whatever - if she keeps on singing over great tracks like this, I'm all for that.
