Big Brother and online Hunger games.

Can you trust ANYONE on Tengaged?

Jul 1, 2008 by AndyShields
I ask this because it isn't like mySpace, Facebook or Bebo. It may be a social networking site, but it's a social game first and foremost. A game based on Big Brother.
In the UK Big Brother has had its fair share of controversy, people have been ejected for threats and bullying and in 2007 it ignited a huge backlash from the media across the world when contestant Jade Goody and her friends launched  a bullying campaign on Shilpa Shetty, a Bollywood actress.
But thats not what this site is based on, this site is based on the US Big Brother where anything seemingly goes, racism, bullying and threats have all gone unpunished in America's version of the show, and any bitching or facetiousness in the UK version would have to be multiplied by a thousand to equal the lying and gameplaying of 'alliances' and 'houseguests' in the USBB.
So when its based on a game where you have to lie, cheat and bully in order to win, can you really trust anyone on Tengaged?
I genuinely don't know the answer, so I'd love to hear your opinions on it.

No. I get that the competitive dogma surrmounts actual conversation into a conversion of psycological techniques to lose relationships rather than to forge them. When some one askes to "form an alliance" or to "friend" you, its in following with the agenda of winning something. Like one thousand digital circles with the numeral 1 in them will make people less dick-ish? The exact opposit is true; these winners must be strategically superiour in there efforts to deceive people. Real dialoug has yet to transpire in my games; only incesant additions to the void of logical fallacies and unfinshed statements. Do people win by this strategy: "hi, I am here, I eat food, I like lamp" exclude the lamp part and you have the tengaged audience pegged. If this is not lying- it is the full ommission of reality. Diversion tactics run prevelent in our culture because winning has metasticized into some almost tangeble representation of the number 1, meaning that the rest of the people were not cheating enough? no, rather the rest succomb to being too trust-worthy disclosing their compramising personalities for something other than detectable bull-shit. Tengaged is the microchasm for all that is disapointing in human behavior. We can't continue to run from ourselves and others in hopes of ataining some figment of our imagination. Real things, topics, ideas can inspire thought internationally amoung various walks of life; our differences add to a collective understanding, unless hidden from everyone is a veil of mistruths. "Hi, I'm sarah; jk, I'm FRANK"

Anyway its only a game ;)

ROFL, 'I'm Frank'
Don't worry I like the US BB too, but where the UK hms hold back in order to be liked by the public who votes for them and by the housemates who aren't allowed to form alliances and get to the final however nasty they are, the US version lets them do what they want. There have been cases of racism and anti-semitism as well as rather vicious bullying on the US version, but they have usually either edited it to look more mild or just left it out of the final hour altogether.
They're too totally different shows, I like them both, but American housemates are much more open, while also being a lot more nasty and vindictive
I know its only a game, but I'm just wondering what people actually think of this as a 'social networking tool' when for the most part you only see a squeaky clean constructed persona who for all you know could be lying and bitching behind your back

Big Brother was in the UK first, therefore US Big Brother--being a completely different show--shouldn't even be allowed to call itself Big Brother. The real Big Brother was started off the thought of 24/7 feeds which the public judged your every move, and picked a winner. They did this in Season 1...that's it. It's not Big Brother anymore. I still like the show, but it shouldn't be called Big Brother. :P

ummm get ur facts straight it started in BBUSA if u want to say anything ok makemebelieve.......... but it doesnt really matter it was like a month of a difference or sumthing

Ums, actually Bubbly, it started in the UK.

Anyway, I just saw this.

And the answer is yes, you can. But it seems that as tengaged as expanded, the atmosphere of camaraderie that was initially forged in the beginning has started to dwindle. Newer players seem to be hellbent on winning, which to me is the secondary objective.

I've been friends here. And we have some really great conversations, on AND OFF tengaged.

Since I've made this post I've realised there are plenty of people you can trust on here, and I trust you Lisa, its cool :)
But there are some really untrustworthy people on here too unfortunately, luckily you can spot them a mile off because they gather with other nasty people.

At the end of the day you should not trust anyone in this world, we are an individual and really the only person that cares about you is yourself.
I always put myself first and so should others.
