TL;DR Version: I want moderation change at designated intervals, the duel back, maybe some new color levels, and a few random other things. I also like to complain a lot.
Greetings Tengaged, I have returned from what I would nicely put, a bullshit ban. I received a ban for accusing a user of illegal drug usage. I’m sorry that she was offended by this (no I don’t really think she’s a drug addict), and we've since talked about it in PM and sorted it all out. I don’t think it’s unreasonable however, to think that we should be allowed to have fights with other users. I was told that this time my insults were “too intense”, to which LucyX3Jean responded to moderation about how nothing happened when I (regrettably) mocked her mother for months and only got a slap on the wrist. I’m just saying, accuse me of downloading music illegally and I’m reporting you from now on and will expect to see the same 3 day ban.
My point here is that if there is going to be a sudden rule shift to where we cannot attack the mere character of another user anymore that this needs to be communicated with us. Moderation is an unpaid service who has to put up with all of the bullshit that the Tengaged community is responsible for. I understand that after a while it is frustrating to see all the stupidity we are capable of, as well as all of the pestering from users for them to ban so and so or change this or that. You signed up for this though and should take it responsibly. Moderators slowly progressing from kind and welcoming to grumpy and downright vile seems to be a recurring trend on here that needs to be fixed. I’d propose the following suggestions, but we know it will fall on deaf ears. Here they are anyways:
1) Please for the love of God make the moderators public. You can’t play this favorites game if we all know who you are. I understand that in the past, Tengagers have gone out of their way to ruin lives of the moderators which is downright ridiculous and something I’ll address now in point two.
2) Why is it that moderators serve such a long tenure as moderation? I really think it would be reasonable to have them be in charge for 2-3 months. That way no one would ever be too upset, because if one sucked we’d know that it’s just a matter of time before a new one takes over. Shifts would prevent disasters like people trying to get involved in their personal lives or getting TOO pissed off at them. But how would we get new moderators when randomize clearly doesn’t seem to care about the fate of Tengaged anymore? This brings us to point three.
3) Long ago Randomize brought us the concept of Frats on Tengaged. Inside these frats there is a system of stars that allows users to be voted into the group, and ranks users in the frat based on how many stars they have. This could be a concept applied to moderators. After two and a half months of a moderator being in service, there would be a one week signup period to apply to be a mod, and then a one week period of starring and unstarring these various people to vote on who should regulate the site for the upcoming three months. The leader at the end of the old moderator’s tenure will automatically have their account set with privileges for three months until a new mod is selected. But what about this turning into a popularity contest? On to point four we go…
4) There would obviously need to be regulation on who could sign up. One would have to be something that monitors whether or not a user has been banned in the past year or two. Anyone who hasn’t and is (and I say this very firmly) a TV STAR can apply. You have to have been around a decent amount of time to be a TV Star, and it would prevent #NoobPower from voting a lower level player in who, to be fair, doesn’t know anything about how the website operates. It is my hope that a responsible member of the TV Star community would be selected as well. Once a moderator, there would be a 1 year removal period in which they could not be up for decision again.
Ok, now that I’ve settled this little moderation debacle in my head, it’s time to delve into some of the other issues that are facing the site currently. The most notable one in my opinion is the lack of presence that randomize has on the site. Like I’ve stated, I don’t think it’s completely unreasonable for him to make a quarterly blog about where he intends to take this site. Right now, the only reason that I stay on Tengaged is for merging in Survivor multiple times, and the overpopulated and simple to use blogs page. I think the blogs page is the main reason Tengaged has a competitive edge over a certain other competitor website. This other website I speak of has a heavily involved admin team that keeps the website fun for everyone, and provides regular updates for where the site is headed. Half the time I’m tempted to buy VIP level just to sock it to randomize and let him know where my preference lies.
Is there anything we can really do to get his attention though? Not likely. Unless everyone on Tengaged simultaneously came together and decided to stop buying T$ and funding the servers for this site, there will be no change that will likely ever come to this godforsaken website. I’m tired of hearing that there have been plenty of updates since the start. It’s been six years. THG was the last big update what, two years ago (unless you count Lineballs)? In the past two years NOTHING has changed. Nothing at all. That’s pitiful. I understand that this website is a “hobby” to him. But some of us have years and years invested into this site which was a potential burden and responsibility he took on when creating this site. We deserve more than him peddling an app that is a knockoff of Flappy Bird to us. We are the reason that his “hobby” website continues. If it were up to me, I’d make you all stop buying anything from him until he returns to update us, even if that meant the site getting shut down entirely. We’d have somewhere else to go…it’s not like a second website doesn’t exist. Plus we all have Skype to keep in touch. We’d be FINE.
Lastly, I’d like to bring up some other much needed changes that it seems a lot of people would like. Changes that would keep users like me around and not feel resentful towards those who run this website. Here they are, a sort of top list of what I want to see happen:
1) The Duel without the damn “Unenroll” button. This stupid button was the reason that when it was brought back it failed in the first place. The Duel was one of the most fun games on all of Tengaged. I think it should be split up by who can join. There could be a lower prize game for lower levels and a higher prize game for higher levels (this is actually one of the few things Scoderk does right, shoutout to je7467). I loved The Duel, it was by far my favorite game on Tengaged and allowed you to practice challenges quickly. I have been waiting years for it to return. Nothing could change ever again as long as it came back and I’d be happy.
2) Stars themed games. I miss newbie stars as well as all-stars. Jubbzy majestically handled those things so well and it was really entertaining voting for who deserved and didn’t deserve to be in. Tengaged_Moderation tried with the banned stars, but it really wasn’t anywhere near the same of what used to be when someone had powers as a “games coordinator”. I miss him, he brought a lot of value to Tengaged.
3) Anything to fix Shops. I don’t exactly know what that is, maybe people like _Aria, SexGoddx, or Lucinda could better help me here, but I feel like they don’t like having to post for 1000T$ week after week so that people can buy designs. I think there could still be a competitive shop game, but there should be ways for people who don’t want to compete to get a shop and not be involved in the drama that is the shops game. Plus if ANYONE could buy a shop at any time, it would cut down on the ridiculous spamming all over the blogs page from people who want to get the most designs into auctions and the highest bid total possible.
4) A spam folder for your inbox. Literally just a checkbox that would allow you to send any mail with a Tengaged link in it directly to your trash. Is that so much to ask???
5) More color levels. Or any kind of ranking up system for those of us who bought TV star while Emmaleigh was still #1 in the Hall of Fame and haven’t done anything significant since. This takes legit probably 10 minutes to code and add!
I’m sure there’s more but I doubt anyone has really read all of this anyways. If you have, damn then thanks and you really must have had some time on your hands. I just think this site needs a lot of improvement to keep people here. Old Tengaged was only better in the sense that Randomize cared, and that new users weren’t quite as annoying as they are today, but that’s likely because in the old days there wasn’t this culture of spam heavy and large annoying alliances blogging. I am appreciative that Tengaged has given me a lot of people I never would have met had it not been created, but now I have Skype for that and don’t want the current moderation system or lack of updates to turn this website into an unusable dictatorship.
Again, thanks for reading if you did. Enjoy your day, and feel free to argue with me in the comments like I know a lot of you will.
I read it all and I agree with you on most points, but I don't think making a mod system that is similar to frats is going to work. It'll just be the same people getting power.
people can still hack into the duel and enroll. i think if one day everyone jsut started enrolling into the duel, it would get rando's attention (plus im sure the game still works its just theres no enrollment on the game page). but of course most likely tengaged_moderation is gonna ban people for inspect elementing to enroll, which is dumb and why some mods should not be fired (similar to how posting a design in the wrong category can be bannable, which idk what the big issue is but if a mod is goign to lose sleep over that, sucks to be ugly!)
ANYWAY to end the rant, the duel can easily come back if t-mod allowed users to just inspect element to enroll, just to at least get rando's attention but they most likely will not help us get the duel back because they are up randos ass!
Aquamarine yay you're back < 333
and I always thought like if someone for example baza76 was a mod (sorry for using your name it's just the first name that came up in my mind) then on their profile under like games played or whatever it should have T_Mod that way we know who is a mod or like you said to have a frat thingy that shows us who all the mods are and we vote who we like the most and they stay... I guess it could even be a game like shops where the best t_mod makes into next month and the other 4 or whatever loose their spot as t_mod and we get 4 new mods. (I honestly don't know how I thought of 5 mods).
I wish Jubbzy would come back he made the coolest games and it's a shame that he's gone because tengaged had this special aura about it back in the day and it's funny because I started this site in 2011 and anyone who started 2010 and before said that 2011 sucked.. and I thought 2011 was amazing compared to this aka 2013 - present.
There's a whole bunch of things that could be worked up with shops like perhaps a store that would just be random that one one actually owns but people can post designs they don't need (they don't like or they don't wear them because they have too many) and it's kinda like an auction and that user gets all the t$ that it was or they could even choose how much they want their design to sell for. Also I always thought with people that do gift shops that Randomize could make it that if you wanted to gift people. You'd have a choice as "post in my shop" "or gift friends" and if you said post in my shop you'd choose from .1t$ to 1000 t$ and it would be posted in your shop for the public to buy but if you chose "gift friends" then you would type 6 tengager's friends names and choose the design you want to gift them and the gifts would all be sent out to the people who were supposed to recieve them in the first place. The only thing though about the 1000 t$ thing is if Rando minimized it.
The duel coming back would be nice and yes that unenrollement button needs to go most people just used it to troll people who actually wanted to play the game and perhaps an amazing race game I know alot of people wanted those.

1. There seems to be a new Tengaged_Moderation since yesterday. Who is lovely tbh.
2. Randomize is returning frequently to the site after Johneh 's attempts to contact him
3. #Johneh stated during the Tengaged outage that #randomize is sorting stuff as he is moving servers and that new updates are coming. Later after the outage randomize blogged that he will be soon moving the servers. So obviously they are both in contact.
Just be patient, if rando is actually putting a little effort into it then you shouldnt be trying to convince everyone to stop contributing to the site because he will just say "fuck it" because nothing he does is ever good enough for some people on here.
INB4 Randomize actually updates the site and people who do not like him try and rip him to shreds on the blog page for actually doing something... Something like that is what stops his hobby from being fun and he will just not enjoy it.
Aquamarine I don't think we need to make the moderators public, but I think that one user should not manage bans on their own.
If each report needed 2-3 moderators approval, that would stop the bias.
Why have shifts with moderators? I worry about #BiodorkGate again! :P
Having a consistent team of moderators is not a bad thing, makes it more trustworthy.
Finally, Rando is able to update the site without logging in! He doesn't have to log in ever!
But he does to check his updates and blog, that's it.
Why do you think he needs to entertain us? He doesn't.
People hate updates, and people demand updates at the same people.
People are dumb. :P
Vindaloo
"INB4 Randomize actually updates the site and people who do not like him try and rip him to shreds on the blog page for actually doing something..."
You have forgotten that this has happened for literally EVERY update, EVERY added game and EVERY single thing Rando has done since I joined in 2008.
Except, perhaps, shiny colour levels and Stars. Besides those 2, people have complained about every update.
Aquamarine We gotta make a change. It's time for us as a people to start making some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive.
I just need to be tengaged_moderation. We all know I have a high tolerance for ignorance and I don't play favorites. Oh and the only time I've ever been banned was when biodork went on his rant
I agree about the duel and believe it or not I actually read the whole blog.... aside from moderation I pretty much agree with everything you said aquamarine
Negged because of point 4
1. Someone would take control and play favorites on tv stars they like
2. I know hundreds of inact tv stars, you'd have the same 50 or so people
3. There are more active lower levels (like myself) than the tv stars
I'd get maybe black or red or something put that went WAY too far
I completely disagree with changing moderation at intervals. But Moderators should be able to have their powers taken away by popular vote, if the majority of the public deems them bad at their jobs. If we find a good moderator, why on earth should they lose their jobs after 3 months?
lmfao ghrocky100 just because you're active does NOT mean you should be a mod. First of all anyone under 18 should be immediately wiped off of all consideration.
Making the name of the moderators public should not be done for all kinds of reasons. Having a team of moderators is a great idea and I always thought there was more than one now. I liked The Duel for the same reasons you do. I also remember the reasons why the unenroll button was installed. If getting rid of it made the game popular again, I would say change it back. I would probably play Survivor again if the Duel was back.
It took about five minutes to read but it was worth it. You have a lot of great points in your blog that will, sadly, be lost into the vast black whole that is tengaged. You had to do a lot of thinking for that moderation system and I hate that its going to waste. I hate having so much invested in the site because I don't want to leave for just that reason. If I didn't have my great friends on this site I'd be long gone..
Aquamarine , I've been here less than a year so idk how it used to be. But you seem to have a lot of valid points. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. This is very well written ^,^
Wow i read this whole thing and i agree with everything. The fact that if we know the mods, they wouldn't be bias. They probably would still be bias because nobody would be able to stop what they do. I agree with yoshitomi comment where there should be 2-3 mods who agree on the action that is being taken. Also piddu had a point about the duel, but we dont know how t_mod would react. If there was a good 30 people or something to get 3 duels started, i think it would force randomize to do it. He will either remove the game from the games page where nobody can join, or he will just make it public again.
i dont like the way you'd have the mods set up because if we find a good mod they shouldnt be outted for a year after they had a 3 month term... it's a good system to find a good mod but like once they go bad tengaged should be able to boot them outta office
