(probably not the place to post this but dont have a reddit oop)
as of now im at a young age where im looking into these kinds of stuff, when i realise most universities that are american are really prestigious and will be much more likely to land you jobs in the field you want to, and is better for networking since lets face it, america has a lot of cities that are the cultural epicenters of the world.
i live in canada and although we do have pretty grade-a universities that come at a fairly lower cost (e.g. university of toronto, university of british columbia, mcgill) but they only hold excellence in select programs, while t20/prestigious universities (namely, nyu, ucla, princeton, harvard) have a lot reputation attached to MOST of their programs, and seem to churn out accomplished ppl in their respective fields, even though their costs are rampant. lets say you are interested in film majoring. while canada might have capilano university, ryeson university and vancouver film school, while usa has usc, nyu tisch, columbia university, calarts, and so many more. i can do this with a lot of other fields and careers, but i'll cut it short here.
im going into eighth grade, and come from a single parent household who makes 40k-50k a year. and even my mother is a mcgill alumni with a degree in communications, however it can largely be attributed that she didnt end up working in the tv/film industry due to the fact she found a job she was comfortable with financially, and enjoyed quite a lot.
i realise im way too fucking young to be worrying abt this shit, but i would quite honestly just like to get my shit figured out as soon as possible.
EDIT: forgot to add some of my biggest doubts are crazy tuition, and 200k plus debt. it would honestly be ideal if the more prestigious unis were only 6-10k a year like up north, that way i wouldn't need to worry abt making my mom go bankrupt haha
