Any hip hop fans?

Mar 26, 2014 by DeathGrip
imageI'm a huge fan of all kinds of music and hip hops definitely one of them. Earl Sweatshirt and the Beastie Boys are definitely my 2 favorite rappers/rap groups in existence. I even have my own hip hop group right now that I'm producing called Ced & Trill. You can hear their first song here http://cedtrill.bandcamp.com/ I'm MCD (My line is the last one). Tell me what you guys think and who some of your favorite rappers are?

I really enjoy 'A tribe called quest', and 'Atmosphere'.

I listend to you song,I enjoyed it.
It's very reminiscent of tyler the creator and his crew's sound, and the two first bros actually sound a whole lot like tyler...I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

still though keep at it! it's always fun to create!

A Tribe Called Quest and Atmosphere are both definitely in my top 10 favorite rappers/rap groups, they're both AMAZING (Although I can't say I'm a giant fan of Atmosphere's most recent single). It's funny though, they both worried about sounding a lot like Tyler when they originally recorded the line, the first guy (Ced) actually rerecorded his line a couple extra times after finally getting it down just to try and put a little more flair on it to sound more unique and less like him. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing either lol

DeathGrip You are awesome buddy!
do you think they sound like him because they are big fans (i'm assuming) and it's rubbed off on them,so their voice subconsciously comes out like that or do they naturally/organically sound like him?
if it's the former, they might want to stop listening to him or any hip-hop/rap music for that matter
while you guy are in the process of making the music/creating.
dunno
Just a suggestion!

also,I have two questions.First the cliche one: tupac or b.i.g?
the second one: Can I kick it? ;)

Well I think Will (2nd verse) sounds like him because of influence but I think the first guy has always sounded like Tyler since before he was even big, it's just how his voice is. To answer your last 2 questions - 1. It's always been Biggie for me, idk why but he's just always appealed to me more (Plus they're rereleasing Life After Death on RSD in a couple weeks :D)
2. Yes. Yes you definitely can.

I agree bud! to be completely honest I'm not a fan of tupac's music, and that's neat man!
I think i've gone a couple of years without buying any vinyl  though :(
i'll still get it gifted,But I kind of decided I had to chill for a while on buying.

what are some of your favorite bands/artist outside of hiphop/rap?

That's where we get into a very broad subject. If I had to name some of my favorites right now it'd probably be Radiohead, R.E.M., mewithoutYou, Alt-J, Queens of the Stone Age, the list just goes on and on
