I saw this idea from mintberrycrunch and immediately thought what a great idea it could be with some improvements.
So let me first start off by explaining the idea of the game: You join with the sole purpose of getting someone else out of the game. You beat them, you haven't exactly won, but you've gotten to be a power player.
Here's how it would work: It'd be a 10 person game, (due to the Faceoff idea premades wouldn't even be a factor) in which no one knows who the person they are set to face off is to be. After the game is full, you are then assigned to your enemy (completely random; not of your choosing at all). A red X will be displayed under their name (instead of a check) to show that that is your enemy. There are no HOH's, nominations are decided by a series of brackets. You will face your *enemy* in a game, the winner is given immunity, the loser is nominated. This means, in the beginning, five people will be nominated. This could even lead to a 1-1-1-1-1 tie. The person whose enemy loses is given immunity to the final 5.
Some things I noticed would be difficult is at the final 6, only one Faceoff will exist, meaning they will literally play for their lives in the game. Being the only nominee would mean to go auto-home.
So now you're probably wondering what happens at the final 5... and I just thought of this now, bare with me, it's a bit of a stretch, but at the final 5 you will have the option to invite 1 person back into the game. That would mean that now that the Faceoff twist had ended, everyone would be competing for themselves.
However, being the nature of Faceoff, there's another twist. Now that a sixth person is added to the game, the enemies are randomized again, therefore possibly pitting you against an alliance member. Only one of you can survive to the final 3. Again, once it is the final 4, the only remaining Faceoff will be fighting for their lives. At the final 3, the person with the lowest competition score goes home.
Now for the final 2,
No one likes the Algorithm which only decides who wins by the final day postings, right? So, it can be one of two things. 1, keeping the nature of the challenges, have them all compete in a challenge, winner takes all. I liked that idea originally, but we all know at times there will be one challenge dominator that can just run through the entire thing. Then I had an interesting idea... for a different type of jury.
Once the game ends all people that have been evicted since the final *five jury members* will 1) not be able to participate in another game until they vote, and 2) to make being a jury member more interesting, you will then vote all as a group to determine who they want to choose the winner. Meaning, if five people are voted out, and four people vote for 1 of the jury members to decide the winner, it is up to him who wins.
Therefore, it could be your own faceoff choosing who wins and who loses.
Now, for the karma payout. I think this game wouldn't be as interesting if it wasn't fast, so I'd say first 8 minutes max for each day or until everyone has competed in the challenge.
