The Magic Box

Jan 20, 2009 by Jaysn
This is a poem i wrote earlier this year for my english class. We all read a poem called the magic box whose author is escaping my mind. Regardless, we were all assigned to write our own form and here is mine. The poem is to appeal to not one sense, but all 5. All of what i put in here are just fond memories i have. Here it is.

The Magic Box

I will put into my magic box
a night where the stars are
hiding behind the stars
and the tickling under
my feet from the ocean sand.

I will put into my magic box
the memories of the smell
of homemade tomato sauce, simmering to perfection
and the sounds of rummaging through the toy box
searching for my heart's desire.

I will put into my magic box
the salty taste of defeat
against the ocean waves
and the blissful feeling of
water completely surrounding me

My box is made of the softest of pillows
in every color you can imagine.
Inside, time is endless and the space is infinite.
Its hinges are made of anything    and everything

I will go into my box on the days that don't need me.
My fears, worries and doubts fade away.
I relax and fall into a deep slumber
to the sounds of my favorite music forever playing.
Eventually I awaken, back in the harsh reality,
feeling just as great as how i felt in my magic box.

I hope you guys liked it.

Sounded great! Flowed well! Is it a metaphor for something?
