3rd top 3 in 8 games

So this is my third day playing on this site. I have played 8 games (7 fasting) and I got my third top 3. I almost had this set up in my second to last game (a 7th place finish, not great but not bad) and I learned a valuable lesson from it, and it is this:

Even when you have set up a clear path for someone to win and it is a no brainer to stay with you, players can still turn on you.

I was in a position where I had a true F3 and a cluster of side alliances among the three of us that were going to be picked off one by one until F3. The move happened one eviction away from having majority with a one person side alliance and the F3 alliance. The one person I wasnt taking with me, the one person side, convinced someone within my F3 alliance to turn and they brought in the next evict into their F3. Confusing i know, but these games often are.

The player that flopped was safe no matter what. Probably why he made the call.

My other F3 member was evicted 8th followed by my 7th place eviction. It was a true 5th/4th finish because the rest of the evicts were inacts.

I was shocked. The first time in the game that I have been truly blind sighted. Why did this happen?

Because I got comfortable. I even started thinking about my Tributes shortly before I realized what was happening.

So what is the lesson here? Even if you trust someone and you have cleared a path for them....keep them on their toes. Try to eliminate anyone your F3 has connections with so they are more comfortable with you. This rule really only applies for the 7th-4th place evictions. Do this in a way that they dont realize it was your idea. Plays like this separate the good players from the great players.

I ended up top three-ing my next fasting event (which is why I have time to write this....redemption!)

Even though three top 3's across 7 games (the 8th is being played right now...my first week long "casting" game) is nothing to sneeze at, it could have been three top 3's across 6 games. Either way I feel like a champ other than my back door exit out of that game. Ill have more to post when I get more games under my belt.

I wouldn't say its irrelevant. Its game theory. I guess this post is geared more toward strategic players.
