What will our futures hold?

We scull aimlessly into the silence in front of us. Our antiquities haunted; taken over by change. All I ever wanted was to succeed, succeed in a way like never before. I was going to be what ever I wanted to be.

I spent my days thundering around, in and out of the sun-kissed palms, the clean air circling through my curly tresses. Only the bee’s stings could main me. It was incredible being young.

We fumble around. Knocking into one another was we forage for our positions. We scull in sequence, one after another. The mind takes all the anguish from every trash I endure. The rule is to never show fear. Therefore, I never will. It shows they have won, and to me. They never will.

I tear away from my mob of screaming friends and enter me home. Everyone’s here. The gorgeous smelling food awaiting me, seduces my mouth. Mother’s cooking is heaven on earth. With every bite I take, I can’t help but grin. Mmm...
.
I’m famished. The earthquakes inside are getting more violent every time. I’m shaking with malaise. The slop we endure; couldn’t attract a vulture. Every morsel crawls to my stomach, feeling the hate within.

I dream of my approaching destiny. I live for the days when I will be able to find and catch my own dinner. Be able to live my own life. Be able to stay up all night when I want. With everything I own, I shall be great. I just have to wait, until I grow.

These people may own me but they shall never take my life. They may own me but they shall never take my pride. They may own me but they will never take my soul!

I am a slave. I used to have dreams, many of them. Now? They only reason I still fight for every second of the day, is the chance that I may, one day, be free...
