The night sets in and the arena becomes very dimly lit with many dark rooms. The tributes can feel an unsettling cold in the arena rush in.
NIGHT ONE
At the cornucopia Tokio and Chris take the first watch while Hoop and Summer rest after hunting the West Wing after the bloodbath.
Tokio: Do you really think Dominic tried to attack them?
Chris: Does it matter? I mean really. Dominic was going to be the first to die from this group anyways.
Tokio: I mean I guess not really, but if they are lying to us about a kill that shouldn't matter don't you think that means they could lie to us about something bigger?
Chris: Coming from One I learned very early in my training to never really trust anyone. Even my district partner. So I know it may seem weird, but I feel closer to you than I do my own partner.
Tokio leans into Chris and rests her head on his shoulder.
Tokio: Hoop was always kind of a macho man and I feel the same way. I think when the time comes we need to be able to part ways in opposition not defense.
Chris pulls a blanket over him and Tokio.
Chris: I have your back for as long as I can and I truly mean that.
Chris and Tokio set in for a few hours to take watch.
JR rests in room 416 in the South Wing. He is now enclosed in the bathroom and has fastened a blanket to the handle in order to keep the door shut. He found a package of food on the tray from the room and decides to eat a small portion of it before sleeping as much as he can.
In the 2nd floor basement George has begun to play with some of the technologies in the operating room. He has managed to start a skill saw used for cutting through bone. He quickly shuts it off and smiles at the weapon. George knows that he now has a defense against the careers as long as they don't bombard him.
Iz remains in his bathroom in room 817. He then lets the door loose for just enough time to examine the contents of his backpack in the dim light. He sees two packages of food, a heat pad, and an extra pair of socks. He opens one of the food packs and eats a fourth of a roll and drinks a small portion from his canteen. He then fastens the door back in it's locked position and tries to sleep.
The cameras trail off to the Doctor's Office Towers because there is movement within the floors. Bert and Riba switch off taking watch and Bert begins resting. Riba sets in on the couch and eats a small portion of her roll and a sip of water. Meanwhile, Orchid travels up to the 7th floor and hears the package rustling from Riba. Orchid timidly knocks on the door and waits for an answer. Bert and Riba quickly weapon up and open the door awaiting for the arrival of the intruder.
Orchid: Please. I don't want to hurt you.
Riba: What are you doing!?
Orchid: I was on the 5th floor and came up the stairs and heard your package rustle. I knew you guys were here somewhere and I wanted to ally with you since all of the careers are all still alive. I can leave if you don't want me, but please don't kill me.
Bert looks at Riba and they nod in approval.
Bert: Get in here and be quiet!
Orchid shuffles in the room and thanks them quietly.
Bert: Now what do you have?
Orchid: I got the spear and canteen from the bloodbath. The blanket though, I found it in a supply closet on the 5th floor. There were a bunch more, but I couldn't take them all.
Riba: That's great to know. It's really cold in here.
Bert: It is a hospital after all.
Orchid: I think the careers killed my district partner.
Riba: From what I remember it was Hoop and Summer yeah. I think that those two have something going on.
Orchid: I really wasn't close to Andy, but it's never easy losing someone from home out here.
Bert: I know what you mean. In the last uprising, my dad was killed at point blank by a peace keeper right in front of me.
Riba rubs Bert's back.
Orchid: Oh my gosh, that's awful. I remember one time my older brother tried to sneak a peach back home and he got 20 lashes with a whip. He was almost dead after the beating. It was awful.
Riba: I'm so sorry.
Orchid: Oh he's okay now. He's expecting his own baby now. I just can't believe he wanted kids in this world.
Bert: Yeah if I ever get out of here I'm never having kids. I'll cut my own balls off if I have to.
Riba and Orchid quietly giggle.
Riba: Well I was taking watch. Orchid if you want you can sleep or stay up with me. Whatever you want to do.
Orchid: I slept a couple of hours in the closet so I can stay up. More eyes watching is always better.
Bert: Well I am going back to my beauty sleep.
In the West Wing there is some movement happening.
Drew climbs to the 10th floor and begins listening for other tributes. Drew is entering each room one by one seeing if there is anything worth scavenging. Drew manages to pick up 3 packs of food from the rooms and she stuffs them in her backpack before entering room 1010. With her knife at the ready Drew enters the room and sees Bunzz asleep on the couch. With no hesitation Drew plunges her knife into Bunzz's heart before muffling her groans. Drew takes Bunzz's canteen and backpack before leaving the room and descending back to her room on the 8th floor in room 826. Bunzz's cannon sounds just as Drew settles back into her bathroom floor.
Blu and Red are startled by the cannon and the jolt in defense. Realizing they are both okay they sigh in relief. Blu and Red go to the bathroom and use the sink to cleanse their faces.
Blu: Don't drink that!
Red: Why?
Blu: They gave us water canteens for a reason. Something has to be wrong with the water sources.
Red: Oh my gosh I didn't even think about that.
Blu: If you're thirsty just have some from the canteen.
Red drinks some of the water from the canteen.
Blu and Red then return to rest in the bed of their room.
The sun begins to rise within the arena.
DAY TWO
After Tokio and Chris switched out with Summer and Hoop the pair that is left awake begins to practice with their weapons in the food court.
Tokio and Chris wake up to the racket and are annoyed about the way they were awoken.
Chris: Nice wake up call.
Hoop: Better than slitting your throat.
Summer and Hoop laugh
Tokio: Cut it out before I cut you.
Hoop: I am so scared oooo.
Chris: Have we even checked the food court for any food?
Summer: Be our guest.
Chris and Tokio go to the food court bars and begin searching for any fresh food.
Tokio: Look there's something back here in the freezer.
Chris and Tokio go to the freezer to check it out.
Tokio: I just wanted to talk to you in private. I don't know how much longer I can take it with those two. Like even sleeping with guards felt worrisome.
Chris: I know. I am sorry. I didn't think Hoop would react like that this morning. I think that we need to come up with a plan tonight. Tributes are still dying slowly and with only so many of us left we need an escape plan.
Tokio: Do you think with only 4 of us left they would agree to split up and hunt tributes down?
Chris: It's unlikely which sucks, but I think tonight when we need to kill them.
Tokio: I agree. I think they are thinking the same thing. So tonight we take first watch.
Chris: Agreed. Be ready to flee at any time today though. If I ruffle with my ears at all just know that's my sign to run and if I see you do it too I'll know.
Tokio: I agree. Now let's grab this box of whatever and make it look like we weren't scheming.
Chris: I'll tote it. I got you Tokio.
Tokio: We found this in the freezer. I wonder if it's edible?
Hoop: I hope it's pancakes.
Summer: I want some apple pie!
The group opens the box to see frozen fish filets.
Summer: Ew what is that!?
Hoop: It looks like it's no good whatever it was.
Tokio: Well we always have the packages to eat from.
Chris tosses some packs to the group.
Chris: On the menu today we have rolls and protein bars. Enjoy!
Summer: Ugh. I need real food!
Tokio: I would love some meat right now.
Just then, a sponsor gift arrives and it has the number two on it.
Hoop quickly grabs it and opens the box.
Hoop: Wow talk about ask and you'll receive. It's four cheeseburgers.
Summer: Oh wow. I would love one.
Tokio: I guess Hoop and I can share this one.
Summer: You better little greedy girl.
Chris immediately intervenes.
Chris: We are a team and if you want to keep up the animosity you will get us all killed so drop it Summer.
Summer: Ugh you're really annoying me Chris!
Summer takes her cheeseburger from Hoop with a wink and sits in the mouth of the Corn to eat. Hoop joins her and Chris and Tokio soon follow them.
Hoop: Alright we've had time for our food to settle. We need to start hunting again. I'm getting bored.
Summer: I am so ready. The first one is mine!
The career pack make their way to the West Wing before ascending the stair case to the first floor. They take turns opening doors, entering rooms, and anticipating tributes. By the time they enter the 4th floor they are so loud that Blu and Red on the 5th floor can hear them. In a panic they think of what to do.
Red: Well if they are below they will for sure be sweeping their way up. We need to go down and get out of here.
Blu: Let's use the stair case in the back that way we can run through the first floor to flee.
Red: Let's go.
The pair gather their belongings and swiftly make their way to the stair case. Just as they open the door they hear the careers open the door below them to come up. In sheer terror they make their way down the hall of the 5th floor and make their way down to the cornucopia. They flee into the doctor's office tower and make their way up to the 3rd floor before finding a supply closet and hiding.
Unbeknownst to the careers the pair from 5 have made a swift escape. The doors to the stair case have a cushion close making the doors almost silent to the closing. Between the laughter and talking none of the careers noticed the door clicks. As the careers enter the room that Blu and Red were once in they can notice a disturbance in the room and know someone was here.
Summer: Someone was here.
Hoop: I bet they went up so whoever it was is probably on the next few floors.
Tokio: Or they heard us and went down.
Summer: Do you really think these tributes are that smart?
Chris: I mean there were a lot of high scores this year so yes.
Hoop: Watch it man.
Tokio: Hoop shut up and stop defend the poor little girl who couldn't make an 11 like the rest of us.
Summer jumps at Tokio to attack her but Hoop holds Summer back.
Summer: You little bitch I will kill you if you ever say something like that again!
Tokio: I'd like to see you try little rat.
Just then Tokio sees Chris rubbing his ear and she sees the signal.
Chris: Yeah this has been fun and all, we need to keep moving.
Summer and Hoop take the lead to the next floor and just as they enter a room Chris pulls Tokio back and takes his spear and impales it into Hoop's skull. Summer screams in terror and takes out her own spear. Tokio throws a knife right at Summer's heart but she ducks enough for it to only impale her shoulder. Chris then slams the door shut in Summer's face.
Chris: Take the rope and tie it to that door. She will be locked in. We need to hurry.
Tokio does as she is told without hesitation.
With Summer trapped inside with Hoop's lifeless body Chris and Tokio escape back down to the Cornucopia.
Chris: Pack your bag with as much food and water as you can. I will take the weapons and hide them from Summer so she can't come back here.
Tokio: Where are we going to go?
Chris: The South Wing. It seems the safest option.
Tokio: Okay!
Tokio grabs all the food and water she can fit in three backpacks. Chris then takes as many weapons as he can to the freezer.
Chris: We can lock the weapons in here.
Tokio: That's genious.
Chris and Tokio stuff all the weapons in the freezer. After finding an unopened lock on the freezer door they slam the lock shut and head to the South Tower.
Drew wakes up to the sound of a cannon and gathers her things to start exploring the arena downward. As Drew enters the 6th floor of the West Wing she notices a rope tied to opposing doors and hears a girl screaming on the other side of one of the doors. She realizes it is Summer and wonders if anyone else is in there.
Summer: Chris and Tokio when I find you I am going to slit both of your throats and watch you die while I laugh. I hope you two are happy together!
Drew realizes Summer said nothing about Hoop and assumes that the cannon that woke her must've been Hoop's. Drew knowing that Summer is in a deranged state it could be easier to take her out. Drew carefully takes the rope off of Summer's door and ready's her knife. Summer swings open the door and steps out. Just then Summer feels something warm run down her neck. Drew drove a knife so deep into Summer's neck that it instantly paralyzed her and as Drew takes out the knife she swiftly stabs it back into Summer's head with her cannon quickly ringing out. Drew takes the spear out of Hoop's head and takes the canteen off of Summer and her backpack before retreating back to her original room on the 8th floor in room 826.
Orchid, Bert, and Riba take inventory of their supplies and realize they have little food and water left.
Bert: Do you think the careers are still guarding the cornucopia?
Orchid: With it being Day Two they are likely hunting. If they aren't here we might have a good chance to restock at the cornucopia.
Riba: I think it is worth a shot. If we see them we will still be out of view to return here.
Bert: We need more food and water. I think it's worth a shot.
Orchid, Bert, and Riba make their way down the elevator to the ground floor. As they look for the careers they see nothing. They then sprint into the cornucopia and see little food and water left. They scavenge what they can before returning to their camp on the 7th floor of the doctor's office tower.
Riba: Wow that was really lucky.
Bert: I'll say.
Orchid: We should have enough food and water for a few days now.
Night begins to set in as the end of day two comes to a close.
The Panem anthem plays followed by the portraits of the fallen for the day.
