Family...

Jul 10, 2009 by MikeyB
Well, I am home for the weekend visiting my family in the great old state of Maine. What a joy this should be, catching up and doing fun things together...but instead, I wish I were back in Vermont.

I've got two adopted brothers who are 12 and 14, yet are really 8 and 6, respectively...which is not their fault as they have developmental disorders and I love them to death. What is their fault is the yelling, the screaming, the damage to property, the fighting, the arguing, and such subsequent behavior. I used to teach 7th grade students, and I have never seen anything as to the likes of this...How does my Dad manage to live with this 24/7/365 when I want to leave them after just 1 hour.

They are worse than my Dad's two poodles, who continually annoy me by jumping on my computer screen, fighting with each other, and according to my stepmom have begun that awful high pitched yapping they both do all day simply because they are in heat and want the other dog (who is actually the sweetest ever, and really quiet, hes a mutt) to impregnate them.

And My Dad, evermore the "involved" parent has decided that my visit should be charcterized by budget planning and telling me how to live my life. That is normal, and of course I could handle that no problem, but have you ever seen a 47 year old man start crying and saying "Woe is me, everyone is against me and is out to hurt me"? I swear, unless my Dad gets  backbone and starts taking responsibility for his own actions instead of blaming everyone else for his own mistakes in life (including as I am so always reminded his divorce 20 years ago with my mother who of course was the entire culprit cause he never does anything wrong), I am seriously going to send him back to Kindergarten.

So Holler back if you feel my pain. And don't judge me unless you've met my family...if you want, you can have them for a weekend and see how you like it.
