New's Movie Taste: All Stars - ROUND 6 (ELIMINATION)

Aug 27, 2022 by NewNightmare7
Hey y'all!

Ok so here is the tea, one of y'all are leaving and its a tragedy. I love all of ya.

Ok here are the critiques:

demgirl6 - Incantation (2022) - I heard through tik tok its like super scary and like all these things and I dont believe it but I was excited to check it out regardless! I love foreign horror movies they are so fucked up its amazing. But I can't lie I checked out of this movie quite early. The biggest thing that fucks with me so much is using found footage as a gimmick and not actually putting care into it. Like the ammount of times were camera placement is just ridiculous and I thought i wouldn't care much but it just kept happening and happening and happening like no adult in their right mind would pull out a phone and film the aftermath of a child assault in the classroom like isn't that illegal? I feel like this movie could have been alot better without found footage cause its an interesting concept for sure but its not really explored well because of its nature and non-linear structure. I wanted to enjoy it but I wasn't really a fan sadly :(

JayElVeeIsBack - Good Will Hunting (1998) - I've never seen this before but the one thing I do know about it was that Gus Van Sant ended up making the Psycho remake (something he wanted really badly) because of the success of this movie so werk I guess. So I can't lie, I was not feeling the opening 30 minutes. I just kind of found it to be like A Beautiful Mind which I found kind of boring...but then Robin Williams shows up and oh my god did this movie form. Watching the scenes of Williams and Matt Damon literally just talking yet its like verbal catch with their sentences as the ball. Its great. It gives me the vibe of a movie where once a piece clicks it all starts coming together. The acting is PHENOMENAL. I am such a Robin Williams fan he is a delight and I said if before I'm so sad he passed. We lost a legend. I also loved the scenes between Will and Skylar. The breakup scene in particular is heartbreaking especially when Skylar starts crying I was like "oh girl no". Those scenes with the therapy scenes were so amazingly investing I absolutely adored it. I tend to stay away from reviews while watching movies as I don't like it clouding my thoughts but I read something that Roger Ebert said that completely stuck with me that its the individual moments that make it work. Yeah its a clear cut and paste kind of movie but its whats inside that clear cut narrative that makes it work. Awesome job!

Ok and with that based on the critiques its probably a little obvious but never the less heartbreaking...the eliminated person is...

demgirl6...im so so sorry. Honestly the season 1 crew has been hella strong this season and you are a huge factor in expanding my taste but the game sadly does end here :( thank you so so so much for returning and being iconic.

And with that we move onto the Top 7 (which congrats to nateclove for beating his OG placement!) Stay tuned for the next round!

Symmetry888 I mean I can totally see why some people would find it very boring (im not really a fan of those kind of movies either) but something about the back and forth was like yes. It hit me psychologically to be honest

It’s just my favorite movie of all time and even though it’s not fast paced to me the dialogue and acting bring it all together Matt Damon and Robin Williams leave me in tears by the end of the movie

NewNightmare7 liked the main character, but it was too long to keep me!
