#UntilDawn

7:00 PM

The atmosphere surrounding the cabin is still, with some birds and insects beginning to make sound. A large cabin; it is joined by a stand-alone garage to the left, and an old, ruined barn to the far right of it. Clearings of grass surround its enclosure in the gate. An old trellis, with decaying wood, can be seen decently far-away from the house. A bloody glove lies at the bottom of it, slightly hidden by some grass.

The front gate can be heard creaking open, followed by girls’ chatter. We see Bubbles and Rosey entering; Bubbles finishing off her frappucino and Rosey looking around, pensively, at her surroundings.

Bubbles: Oh, what a pretty house, Ro! Don’t you love it!
Rosey: I wonder how old this place is…
Bubbles: Who cares. I just can’t wait to do lines of coke tonight. Have you ever done hard drugs before, hun?
Rosey: You have coke! What?! N-no I’ve never-
Bubbles: I’m TOTALLY about to give you the plug! You, me, Drew, and maybe that druggie Mac are going to get messed up tonight! We can do it in that barn over there… (motioning to it)
Rosey: I’m good, thanks.
Bubbles: You’re literally no fun, Ro. You’re DOING this, I command you. (playfully nudging her).
Rosey: Whatever…

The two girls walk up to the front steps. Bubbles turns the doorknob of the old door, it’s paint chipping away.

Bubbles: From up close, this house is suddenly not looking so pretty. Kind of like Emma. (smirking) She seems pretty until you actually see her face.

Emma opens the door. Her face contorts from excited to shocked, a hint of disappointment.

Emma (faintly smiling): Uh, hey Bubbles!
Bubbles: Emma! It’s so great to see you, babe.

Bubbles enters, giving Emma a hug before pushing her away. Rosey awkwardly waits outside.

Emma: ...you can come in, Rosey!

Rosey enters. Directly in front of the door is an old, narrow, wooden staircase. To the right is an unlit lounge area, circa 1950. To the left is a living room, complete with an old 2000s TV and some very old furniture. The light from the kitchen can be seen. All around the house, a faded, cream wallpaper suffocates the walls.

Bubbles: How are things? Are you still working at… where was it again? SeaWorld?
Emma (visibly annoyed): The zoo, yes. A paid internship, it’s great.
Bubbles: Mmmhmm, cool, yeah, good chat. Anyways, where’s AJ?

AJ appears in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. Bubbles looks her once, up and down.

Bubbles: Your hands look a little… unclean.
AJ: Good to see you too. (waving to Rosey) Hi, Rosey.

Rosey smiles and waves back.

AJ: I’ve been cleaning the fridge. There was mold everywhere.
Bubbles: Well, I’ll wait to hug you then, love. (blowing a kiss) Where do I put my shit?
Emma: Well, we haven’t worked out rooming situations. There aren’t enough-
Bubbles: I need my own bed. I like to stretch out when I sleep. Also, I might be… occupied with someone tonight.
AJ (widening her eyes): I can see you haven’t changed.
Bubbles: I know, I’m such a hoe. And a classy one at that!

Bubbles sits down onto a late-1800s style chaise lounge and scrolls through her phone.

Rosey: I can help you in the kitchen, AJ.
AJ (smiling): Thanks, Rosey. Emma, do you want to keep Bubbles-
Emma: Actually, I have that thing I need to do, you know?
AJ: I don’t, but… (seeing Emma’s expression) Oh, yeah. That. Cool.
Bubbles: Can you get me a glass of water, Em? Thanks, love ya.

Emma ignores her and walks out of the room, into another lounge area to the right of the living room.

Emma (muttering to herself): I hate her, I hate her, I hate her…

END SCENE

By the rapidly-flowing stream, Lizzie is being grabbed by the current, her face submerged.

Anna: Lizzie! (looking around) I-I don’t know what to do…

Brody streamlines after Lizzie, swimming at a fast pace. He meets her just as she slams into a rock. He pulls her up.

Lizzie (gasping): Help… help….

Brody pulls her to the bank on the other side, not letting go of his grip until they reach shore.

Brody: Gwen… can you help me out?

Gwen nods, scouting out some rocks to jump across to the far right of Lizzie and Brody. Anna and Hope, frantic and panicky, follow her.

Brody: Lean her against you.

Gwen kneels down and takes Lizzie, leaning her against her stomach. Brody holds Lizzie’s shoulders, evaluating her.

Brody: Are you okay?
Lizzie: Yeah… I’m just an idiot.

Anna runs up, crying.

Anna: Lizzie! I was so worried.
Hope (muttering): You were the one who encouraged her to go across…
Anna (turning angrily to Hope): Shut the fuck up! My FRIEND almost DIED.

Hope looks taken aback. She glances at Brody, who’s making eye-contact with Gwen.

Brody: Thanks for rushing over here. (clasping Gwen’s hand) My… my heart’s beating so fast! I’ve never had such an adrenaline rush…
Gwen: You mean, being the big football star, you’ve never….?
Brody: Felt so electrified that I almost shit my pants? (laughing) Never, that’s only happened once, on a rollercoaster when I was six-

Brody stops talking, embarrassed. Gwen laughs.

Gwen: Well, you didn’t look scared. That was really quick and brave of you…

She blushes. He blushes. They share a moment. Hope clears her throat.

Hope: I think… I think we should, uh, maybe hurry. To the house.
Anna (glaring at Hope): Maybe we should wait until Lizzie’s fine, you know? Your fear of bears can wait a minute, I haven’t even-
Hope: I’m not even worried about the damn bears anymore, Anna. But, if Lizzie has a concussion or something, we should make sure she’s not out in the fucking wilderness. God.
Brody: Chill, babe. It’ll be fine.
Hope: I AM fine.
Brody: I didn’t-
Hope (looking at Gwen): C’mon, I’ll help you move her, Gwen.

Gwen, noticeably aware of the tension, complies.

Gwen: Okay, yeah. Let’s get going…
Lizzie: Thanks, guys. Shit. My stuff is probably ruined.

Gwen and Hope lift Lizzie up. Brody helps Anna, who’s been kneeling and wiping away tears, to her feet, and picks up Lizzie’s waterlogged purse. Everyone begins a slow walk in the direction of the house.

Lizzie (looking back at the stream): I just wanted a nice weekend away from home, and away from dealing with my shitty ex. Was that too much to ask for?

END SCENE

Justin is walking alone, along a dark path, flanked by pines. The sun is still setting, but it’s almost twilight. He’s using his phone as a flash light. Walking for awhile in silence, he stops and listens. A branch breaks behind him. Swinging around, he turns and flashes his light around, revealing nothing but trees and undergrowth. He frowns, and continues to walk. Immediately afterwards, the faint sound of footsteps can be heard. He turns around again.

Justin: Hello?

Suddenly, a girl’s scream can be heard. Justin turns around and runs in the direction of the scream.

Justin: What the hell?

Voices from afar can be heard.

Voice: Where are you?! Erika?
Justin: Erika? What?

Justin runs even faster. As he turns to see the restroom building, he runs right into Erika, who’s been running in the opposite direction. They collide and fall.

Erika: Ow, shit.
Justin (grabbing his head): Nice to see you too…

Drew runs up to the both of them.

Drew: Erika, what happened? You interrupted me mid-pee….
Erika: There was a skunk walking by the restroom… I had to get away!

Drew’s face grows deadpan and annoyed.

Drew: Are you serious right now?
Erika: ...what? I didn’t want to be sprayed…
Justin: You definitely know how to scream, girl…
Erika (smiling): Thank you. It’s a talent, honestly.

Drew finally looks at Justin.

Drew: Justin… it’s literally been forever since I’ve seen you. How’ve you been?
Justin: Highs and lows (getting up) This was a particular “low” for me.

They both laugh. Erika rolls her eyes.

Erika: It is good to see you, though. I heard you had some shit happen to you this past year… sorry I wasn’t there.

A look of hurt flashes on Justin’s face for a second before disappearing.

Justin: It’s fine. Let’s not talk about it.
Erika: I was just saying, you know…
Justin: Yeah, I know.
Drew: Well, glad to have you here with us. We didn’t really know where we were…
Justin: And I do?
Erika: Okay, Justin. I don’t need your attitude, we’re just-
Justin: I don’t have an attitude, Erika. Sorry you can’t take me being direct with you.
Erika: Are you mad, or what? Boy, it’s not that serious.
Justin: I’m not mad, you’re just annoying me.
Erika: The feeling is mutual.
Drew: Okay, let’s all just… stop fighting.
Erika (rolling her eyes playfully): Thanks, dad.
Drew: Erika, really?
Erika: Look, everyone is being super serious right now, when we really should just enjoy our walk to the house. Let’s go, hunties.
Drew: You were the one who screamed like you were being murdered from seeing a skunk.
Erika: Well, I see no murderers here. I’m just loud. Let’s go.
Drew: Justin, I’m reading the book that Travis Dixon wrote. You know, about your cousin’s whole experience. I didn’t realize she was so… well, badass. You have a lot to be proud of.
Justin: This is legit all that anyone ever talks to me about. One minute with both of you and I’m already wishing I didn’t come.

Justin walks away.

Drew: Should we go after him?
Erika: I’d rather not, but… maybe. In case there are actual murderers here, let’s be on the safe side and stick together….

Erika and Drew follow Justin.

A masked person with an axe can be seen behind the restroom building.

END SCENE

Mac and Michael are leading the way along a trail, with Cloe and Avril right behind them.

Michael: So, yeah. She’s gonna be here.
Mac: Get it, man. She’s hot. Even if she’s a little thick.

Avril looks sadly into the distance. Cloe looks at her, thoughtfully.

Cloe (sighing): I hope that we get there soon. Getting high before making this trek was a mistake.
Mac: A mistake well worth it. (he laughs) I can carry something for you, princess.
Cloe: I mean, I’m not going to say no…

He takes one of her bags. Avril looks at her irritatedly. She catches her glance.

Cloe: So, Avril. How has your day been?
Avril: It’s been fine.
Cloe: I heard you’re now a… a philosophy major?
Avril: I am.

Cloe smirks.

Avril: And you’re on your… second year as a junior, right. What happened?
Cloe: I think you know… (looking away)
Avril: Oh, right. Academic probation. Bummer.
Michael (laughing): Yeah, a real bummer…
Cloe: What, Michael?
Michael: Nothing, I just… I think you enjoyed your extra year of being on a vacation.
Cloe: Vacation? Nothing about my year off was a vaca…
Michael: Yeah, okay. Tell that to all of your hook-ups… you really got some...  life experience.
Cloe: I hate you.
Michael: I know. (he exchanges glances with Mac)
Cloe: You always go too far… Atleast I’m not a shallow asshole who only talks about politics or himself.
Michael: You make it sound like that’s a bad thing…

Avril laughs. Cloe glares at her.

Cloe: Well, Bubbles will be impressed. Right, Avril?
Avril: Um…
Cloe: You know, his hook-up for the night. Bubbles, the plastic bitch who just started going to our school last semester?
Avril (forcing a laugh): You’re hooking up with her tonight?
Michael: No. (he smiles)
Cloe: Of course he is. You really think he’d go for someone other than a blonde with no personality?

Cloe looks at Avril with an overdone smile; Avril looks at Michael sadly; Mac and Michael grin at one another.

Mac: It’s fine, Cloe. Michael doesn’t appreciate personality in a girl, because he doesn’t have one himself.
Michael: Whatever, man. All I know is that I’m going to have a good night tonight.
Cloe: I will too.

She smiles flirtatiously at Mac. His eyes widen and he smiles even bigger than before.

END SCENE

In the house kitchen, AJ and Rosey have finally cleaned the fridge. Rosey is putting things into cabinets; AJ is washing her hands.

AJ: It’s great to see you, Rosey. I missed you!
Rosey: I missed you too, AJ. (timidly smiling) I’m r-really sorry about your mom. I loved her. She was so sweet.
AJ (taking a deep breath): Thank you. It means a lot, I mean.... (she looks at the floor) I didn’t expect it. At all. The world can be so cruel… If I ever met that maniac driver who did it to her… (she clenches her fists)

Rosey takes AJ’s hands.

Rosey: I….well, actually, I don’t get it. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. But we’re all here for you. Even Bubbles…

Both girls laugh.
Suddenly, there’s a knock at the door.

AJ: I wonder who this is…

Rosey follows AJ to the door, but Emma and Bubbles have already opened it. Anna is standing in the front, with Brody, Gwen, Lizzie, and Hope behind her.

Anna: Emma! Bubbles!
Lizzie: C’mon Anna, let us get inside, too.
Anna: Oh, right! Guys, clear Lizzie some couch space, she needs to lie down.

Lizzie is no longer being flanked by Gwen and Brody.

Lizzie: I’m fine, thanks Anna.
Anna: You may have a concussion…
Lizzie: I feel fine, quit worrying!
Emma: What happened? (hugging Lizzie) It’s great seeing you…
Lizzie: I… took a tumble.
Hope: Down a river. What a way to start off the evening, right. (she laughs)
Brody: It was pretty movie-like.
Gwen: Especially your rescue of her, Brody!

Hope glares at Gwen. Gwen’s smile vanishes.

Bubbles (grabbing Brody’s arm): Wow, somebody’s got more buff over the past year… You must make Hope pretty happy (winking).
Hope: Yes, he’s perfect.

Hope kisses Brody. Rosey, who’s been staring at Anna uncomfortably the whole time, finally walks up to the group.

Hope: Hey Rosey!
Gwen: Ro!
Anna: Rosey…
Rosey: Anna…
Anna: It’s… (restraining herself) certainly interesting to see you again.
Rosey: Y-yeah.
Anna: How have you been?
Rosey: I mean, fine, I guess…
Anna: What? I’m just trying to be friendly…
Rosey: You don’t need to be. I mean, I don’t really need you to be fake nice if that’s what you’re trying to do…

Anna’s jaw drops, stunned.

Bubbles: Get it, Ro! My little bird is standing up for herself.
Lizzie: What’s your problem, Rosey?
Anna: Sorry for trying…
Rosey: Yeah, okay. That’s totally why I have an issue with you…
Anna: Why then?
Rosey: Maybe because you’re the most vindictive person I know.
Anna: ME? VINDICTIVE?
Rosey: Forget I said anything…
Anna: No, please go on. I’m sorry I’m a shitty friend and a shitty person. I’m sick of everyone attacking me!
Lizzie: Anna, no one is attacking you…
Anna: Rosey is! Rosey, I don’t know where our fall out started, but I always loved you as a person, and-
Rosey: Okay, I’m sorry but... th-that isn’t true. I don’t need to keep hearing this.

Bubbles butts into both girls.

Bubbles: Rosey, my “merch” is in my bag. Why don’t you say we go and enjoy it and get away from this fake, wannabe Cinderella.
Hope: You’re calling HER that?
Anna: Look in the mirror, biotch.
Rosey: All I know, Anna, is that you left me because I wasn’t cool enough to join your “cool” clique. (looking at Lizzie, Hope, and Brody). And that HURT.
Anna: I didn’t quit being your friend, I-
Rosey: Save it! (her eyes well up with tears) You’ve always been a fake person, I was just too blind to see it.
Anna: Our paths just, like, diverged. I like to take risks and be crazy, and-
Rosey: I don’t?

Rosey looks at Bubbles thoughtfully. She takes a deep breath.

Rosey: You know what, Bubbles? Let’s go. Apparently, Anna thinks she knows me…

Bubbles blows a kiss to the clique and follows Rosey out the door. Anna looks sadly toward Rosey.

Gwen: Well, um… in other news, I’m really glad to see you guys! (she goes in to hug AJ and Emma)
AJ (hugging her back): Me too. I just… hopefully things die down…
Emma: They will, AJ. Don’t sweat. I’ll check up on her in a bit...

END SCENE

8:00 PM. The evening sky is reaching the end of twilight. Rosey and Bubbles are crouching in front of a hay bale in the middle of the barn.

Bubbles (snorting a line of coke): So rustic! I love it! Here, Ro. (pulling out a tin) I found this tin on the coffee table when we walked in. For your first go, wanna try some mystery stuff? It’ll be more exciting!
Rosey: Uhm… (looking at the powder apprehensively) Okay. Just… can you look away. When you’re looking right at me like this, it’s kind of pressuring.
Bubbles: Sure hun. I’ll just… go outside and wait a bit for you to do your “deed” (smiling) BRB.

Bubbles leaves.

Rosey: Okay, here goes nothing…

Rosey spreads out the line in the tin and snorts it. She closes her eyes, swallows, blinks a few times and looks around the barn at all of the chaotic splays of hay and barn tools lying about.

Bubbles (from outside): Ooh, I think dinner’s ready! Come on!

Rosey rises and moves toward the door. All of the sudden, she falls onto her stomach.

Rosey: Ow…

Trying to get up, she continues to fall down, her arms and legs losing their ability to function. Her mouth, opened and trying to call out, begins to foam. Her eyes start to grow red. Suddenly, she’s convulsing on the floor. Blood is pouring out of her ears. In an attempt to wail, blood starts gushing out of her mouth. A few more wild spasms come out of Rosey, before she lies still on the dirt floor, facing the wooden ceiling; her mouth open.

Bubbles: Okay, fine, cool off for a bit. I’m going inside! Coming, AJ!

A shrouded figure comes into the barn and begins to drag Rosey by the arms. Barely breathing, she heaves a final sigh, before looking into the face of the figure. She gasps, and grows limp.

This was one of the longest episodes I've written for my Until Dawn series. Should I make it a little longer, a little shorter, or do you like the length?

I like the length. It's not too long or too short. For sure love the longer scenes as it helps to develop the characters and make you more invested in them.

Thoughts on what the group is up against this season?
Some really scary shit and I'm excited to read the next chapter!

Extra thoughts?

Awww Rosey )): She was so sweet ):

1. AJ, Rosey, I hate to be all egotistical say my own character but Gwen seems really nice (:

2. Bubbles, Anna, the killer xD

3. So saddening! She was one of the few nice people in the group. Always putting other people before herself and helping where she could. I'm glad she got to say what she said before passing away. At least she passed having released that pent up stress. RIP Rosey. You will be missed ):

4. The length doesn't matter to me. It's the content within the episode that I care about. From what I've seen thus far, you are a great writer. Keep up the good work! Don't confine yourself to needing to have a longer or shorter chapter! Do what will make each episode as good as they can be! (:

5. Nothing good. I'm afraid. /=

QUESTIONS:
Who are your favorite character(s)? No one yet
Who are your least favorite character(s)? Bubbles is honestly kind of a cunt  lol
Thoughts on the first death of the season (note: someone won't die in every episode): I feel like this won't be the last we see of her.  Remember Aubrey last season?
This was one of the longest episodes I've written for my Until Dawn series. Should I make it a little longer, a little shorter, or do you like the length? I like the length.  Honestly, if you can get as much story as you want to tell, that's all that should count.
Thoughts on what the group is up against this season? Probably the same thing the other group was against last season.  I have never seen an Until Dawn kind of sequel before, so who knows?
Extra thoughts? Nope.  I'm excited to see my character grow  :)

So more on Rosey's death.  It really is sad she died considering the circumstance she died under.  This affirms why Bubbles sucks at life and should be searched for and destroyed immediately.
