Fiji is a strange one to rank, mainly because it was so odd. The merge lasted for four Tribal Councils. Just four. The other nine were pre-merge ones. However thoughout the whole season a lot did happen, and people like BENLINUS and Joeker kept me enteratined thoughout. This season I brought the runner-ups of the first four seasons back to play again against new players.
I THINK (yes think, don't quote me on this) at the merge it was 4-4 on equal original tribes, but the Ravu people (which included BENLINUS and Joeker) recruited Rapboy, who was a Moto, into their alliance. This gave them majority and they whiped out the Moto members one by one. When it came down to just the Four Ravus and Rapboy, BENLINUS thought he had a better chance to take sheep Kort and flipper Rapboy to the end. So he blindsided Joeker, and then took out LoganGage after a tie vote to be in the Final Three with them two. Thats about it for the merge stage of that season. Pre-merge however was probably my favorite pre-merges of my early seasons.
Ravu and Moto took it in turns winning and loosing challenges, just like Savaii and Upolu in CBS South Pacific. That caused dramatic ups and downs for both tribes. Alliances changed, people got blindsided. It was a pre-merge that was on par with the 2nd Gen Brazil season. There was also the 'Exile Tribe' switch, which was just like a tribe switch, which shook things up when they THOUGHT they were merging, which led to two dramatic TCs.
All in all it was a decent, but forgoten about season. BENLINUS was probably the first 'dictator' winner. He controlled his tribe and alliance, got himself to the end, and won the game by still maintaining ties with the Jury.
It was a decent season. One of the seasons where you just go.. "Yeah that was good season, but there were better". That pretty much sums up Fiji. It narrowly beats out Guatemala because there were more power shifts and blindsides, which led to a more unpredictable season.
