So to preface this story, I work at a gas station that's not in my hometown, it's about 20 minutes away from where I live.. I started about 2 weeks ago and I quit this morning.
I went into work last night at 11:45pm and was expecting a normal night.. I was wrong. It was unusually slow and I was working on my list of duties to do every night. Around 1:00am a gas delivery guy came in and left me an invoice for the delivery he just finished.. as he walks back and gets back in his truck, three guys run in the store and one of them holds a gun to me and says open the register.. I stopped what I was doing and ran over to the register and let them have whatever they wanted, they stole all the money in the drawer, cigars and cigarettes. I have never been through anything like that in my life so I was so shook. I immediately called the police and 6 cop cars show up in like 45 seconds.. I gave a description of the guys and a statement to the police, my manager shows up and gives them a recording of the video. Funny thing is the night before, I called in sick because I wasn't feeling well and the same guys stole chips, soda and other stuff but didn't have a gun, they ran in the store grabbed what they wanted and ran out. This morning I called my parents and told them what happened and my dad said you quit or I'm quitting for you so I told my manager I was done. Today I'm just so thankful to be alive and well, even though I am still shaken up. I wrote this blog to get it off my chest because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Moral of the story, don't take life for granted because you never know when something could happen.
