I'm going on exchange this year to the US or Canada (i live in aus), i was just wondering if anyone who has had experience in this area could give me some tips or tell me about their past experiences

I live in the US (lived in both Illinois and Indiana.. currently Indiana) the city of Chicago (in Illinois) is awesome. Always something to do in town. Lots of places to go, everything is around there. Only thing, it's expensive in the city. Very high tax rate there.
