I choose to be a Muslim regardless of the fact that innocent Muslims are getting killed recently because of their faith.
Mosques broken into and burnt down, Qurans burned, Muslim kids bullied.
It is a choice because I have faith in the peaceful side of it.
This is the worst time to be a Muslim, yet I am.

i didn't say anything about it being genetic. I simply stated, with cold hard facts (you CANNOT force yourself into being attracted to something, therefore the choice is not there) that it is most certainly not a choice.
The popular argument (as shown above) is that people would NOT choose to be gay because it isn't socially appreciated.

It is upsetting.
You may not get bullied for being gay, correct.
But bullying occurs for race, gender, size, intelligence, abilities, who you're friends with/related to, wearing glasses, having a disability, doing something once which makes you stand out, ANYTHING. Kids can be horrible and being straight doesn't save you from them.
You are gay for a reason. There is someone out there for you.

I agree with you again - if I wasn't bullied by the majority at my school, I wouldn't be who I am today.
I read some theory once that the increasing amount of gay people is an evolutionary trait to deal with the world becoming overpopulated. That we've evolved to like people of the same gender so that we stop increasing at such a rapid rate. Idk.

I don't know if I was BORN gay, but I certainly did not choose it. If I could have forced my into physical attraction to females, I would have done so instead of painstakingly struggling for years to accept my sexuality.
Religion is a choice. That may be hard to understand if your family made the choice for you prior to your birth.
Your sexuality is genetically hardwired into your DNA whether you or your family accept it or not. Choice would assume you could magically change your own genetic makeup.
I am always surprised why this is so difficult to understand.
There will always be ignorant people. I think this applies to the disabilities, race, build etc. But what annoys me is the inequality regarding these stigmas. You can't call someone a racist name, but it is OK to mock a disabled person and call them the 'r' word.

The notion that sexuality is genetically wired into your DNA is unfounded.
Might there be a genetic component? Maybe. However that isn't proven.
Research suggests sexuality isn't a choice, doesn't mean it isn't influenced by both genetic and environmental factors (in families with two sons the elder son is more likely to be straight than the younger son... I can't exactly cite that but ye where is your strict genetic defense there.)
