Zach Dempsey is a character from the novel and Netfix Series adaptation. He is reason number seven on Hannah's list of reasons of why she killed herself.
He is Justin’s friend, they were walking together on Hannah’s lawn when she first saw Justin. Feeling sorry for Hannah after Marcus tried to use her, Zach tried to comfort her, but she ignored him. The next day, Zach said that he wished he had gotten matched with Hannah for the dollar Valentine survey. Not believing him, Hannah yelled at him until he finally left. Zach's friends teased him for trying to talk to Hannah, but it is implied that his intentions were pure and he really liked Hannah.
After being humiliated by Hannah, Zach got revenge on her by stealing and throwing away all of Hannah’s notes in the Brown Paper Bag Program, what she desperately needed to get comfort and gain confidence.
Hannah figures out that Zach was the one who took her notes, so she writes him a note in order to confront him. In her tapes, she claimed that he read her note and threw it on the ground, however, it is revealed that Zach still keeps the note in his wallet.
Despite pranking Hannah, Zach is shown to have been sweeter than the others who tormented Hannah. He may be stupid and entitled, but he also has a very sweet and honest side.
Justin Foley is a main character on 13 Reasons Why. He is portrayed by Brandon Flynn.
He attends Liberty High School, and appears on two separate tapes, as the first and tenth reasons that Hannah lists.
Justin first met Hannah at her party, during this time he was still dating her friend Kat. The two begin a relationship after Kat moves away, culminating in Hannah's first kiss. Justin eventually spreads lies and begins the downfall of Hannah's reputation and school life.
Hannah talks about the party where she and Clay shared their kiss. Justin and Jessica (although neither is named) enter the room to have sex, although Justin gives up because Jessica is too drunk. Hannah hides in the closet and Bryce forces Justin to let him into Jess's room. Bryce then begins to rape Jessica Justin tries to pull Bryce off of Jessica, but Bryce throws him out of the room. Drunk and feeling he can't confront Bryce, Justin cries over his lack of control over what is happening to his girlfriend. Hannah states that she carries just as much blame as Justin does, as she did not try to stop Jessica's rape either.
Bryce Walker is a main character in 13 Reasons Why. He is portrayed by Justin Prentice.
Bryce is currently a senior in Liberty High School.

Bryce appears in the tapes several times, all of which show less than desirable behavior.
The first time that he appears doing something that affects Hannah is when he takes Justin's phone and sends the photo of Hannah going down the slide on the playground.
Another memorable time of him in Hannah's depiction is when he raped Jessica when she was passed out drunk, unaware Hannah was in the closet.
He is said to have "broke Hannah's soul" because he also raped Hannah in his hot tub, leaving finger print bruising on her arms and back.
He later admits to raping Hannah to Clay when he confronts him, after giving Clay a serious beating, unaware Clay was recording him.
Jeff is one of Clay's closest and only friend, he gives Clay a lot of advice and is one of the more kind hearted characters in the show. He tragically dies at the intersection while driving as a result of Sheri knocking over the Stop sign.
Ryan is on Hannah's tapes for stealing a poem she wrote noting her personal problems and publishing it in the school newspaper without her consent.
