In my current game there's some interesting arguments going on.
It seems that two players have declared each other "boyfriend/girlfriend".
Now, maybe I'm getting old or something but two players who've never met and only know each other through this website can't really declare to be going out, can they? It all seems a little strange.
I'm quite a trusting person in the real world but online I throw up my receptors & watch out for people playing a role or just lying about who they are.
To mashup something Shakespeare said "All Tengaged is a game and all the men and women merely players". I like the duality of the word player- firstly to mean someone engaged in a game and also the more urban meaning of someone who is skilled at manipulating ("playing") others.
I like the word play, and the Shakespeare paraphrase.
I agree with you 100%
Becoming internet couples with someone you barely know is a way to get hacked, and conned, and killed, and raped, and stalked.. I got the levels backwards but ya get what I mean.
But are they goofing around or being serious?
Because sometimes I pretend to be internet-dating my friends and I'm all like "moondrop of my heart" and "you did WHAT with my mother" and stuff...
I'm off track.
