So democracy only matters in 'relevant' states? We might as well just have New York and California vote!!

TOFUTIME

here is a status i wrote a couple weeks ago so

I'm supporting Hillary Clinton and I'm not afraid to admit it. I don't give a fuck about what 95% of college students think.

I want the person who is ready to be POTUS. Every time Hillary wins, Bernie supporters bitch. "I'm not going to vote for Hillary if she gets the Democratic nomination". Well you know what: ENJOY A TRUMP PRESIDENCY THEN! It is your duty as an American to vote and if you don't vote and Trump wins then you CANNOT bitch about him b/c your crusty ass didn't want to vote for Hillary. And I like Bernie and I would vote for the man IF he gets the nomination any day over Trump or Cruz..

Hillary wants to go where Obama left off. Nothing Bernie says will become a reality with a Republican Congress. Free healthcare? Free college? This ain't Sweden. Other countries have different education systems and also do not have massive debt like we do. If you are in college now all free tuition would do would do would make your taxes higher, it also decreases the worth of a college degree. The worse thing to happen to college students would be if our degree was made more worthless in an already struggling job market. Bernie would have to have a democratic senate and house of representatives to even attempt to tax Wall Street which is his proposed plan to raise tuition. He could not do shit. It's sad, but him or Hillary would both be lame duck Presidents for at least two years. This is why it's important to vote in 2018 and for the Democrats to win back the House.

Hillary will win PA, MD, and CA and she will be the Democratic nominee and I will gladly vote for her in November.

smh this blog is dumb because indiana should be a swing state (it's one of two states that obama won in 2008 but lost in 2012, so yes it should be a target for hillary in the general) but so are the salty comments

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/primary-turnout-means-nothing-for-the-general-election/

brandonator
primary turnout/results mean almost nothing for the general election, and this recurring meme about hillary only winning in the deep red south is actually pretty insulting to the consistently democrat-voting low-income black people who make up significant %s in deep south states. also i should point out that analysts are saying that hillary has a strong chance to turn GA and AZ blue in a race against trump due to shifting demographics in favor of black people in those states. just the fact that GA and AZ could be swing states is huge and pretty much guarantees that a democrat will win the white house. so instead of this defeatist attitude about how hillary only wins in red states, we should actually be HOPEFUL that she can turn some of these red states into blue ones. it's not like red states have to remain red forever. a democrat has won "deep south states" as recently as 1996.

and let's be honest, we can laugh at hillary for losing in blue states but if you genuinely think that she's going to lose in deep-blue states like MN and WA and RI and CO because she couldn't win them in the primary, i have a bridge to sell you

also just for funsies let's do some math using the 2012 gen election map and the 2016 democratic primary map to kill this idiotic meme once and for all

States won by Hillary that went Blue in 2012 with electoral votes next to them
Iowa – 6
Nevada - 6
Massachusetts - 11
Virginia - 13
Florida - 29
Illinois - 20
Ohio - 18
New York - 29
Connecticut - 7
Delaware - 3
Maryland - 10
Pennsylvania - 20
Total Electoral Votes = 172

States won by Bernie that went Blue in 2012 with electoral votes next to them
New Hampshire - 4
Colorado - 9
Minnesota - 10
Vermont - 3
Maine - 4
Michigan - 16
Washington - 12
Hawaii - 4
Wisconsin - 10
Rhode Island – 4
Total Electoral Votes = 76

So yeah, Hillary has won 12 blue states to Bernie's 10. More importantly, her blue state wins add up to a hypothetical 176 electoral college votes which is more than twice bernie's amount

at this point i'm trying to make peace with bernie supporters but what i cannot stand is that he has repeatedly encouraged this kind of untrue angry low-information discourse that can be proven wrong with like...10 minutes of actual common sense

hillary's base map is the 2012 obama map. her goal is literally at this point to make sure FL is a safe blue this election and she pretty much wins as long as she doesn't completely fuck it up in the rust belt (which consistently goes blue). not only that, but she can focus on making AZ and GA competive for dems for the next 20 years. if she wins AZ, john mccain probably loses the senate seat he's had since 1987 to a democrat
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
obscurity yeah i know indiana used to be a swing state, but hillary needs to focus more on NC, FL, and OH IMO..
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
coreyants you literally gave zero reasons as to why you support hillary other than she is "ready to be POTUS"
Sent by tofutime,May 3, 2016
im from georgia though sagar and a democrat will never win. jimmy carter's grandson ran as a moderate and lost big lol
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
tofutime Do you know how to read hun???

"Hillary wants to go where Obama left off." Reason #1 she wants to keep obamacare and not start a new healthcare system

2 i state here i think college should be cheaper, but not free like bernie wants.

3 she does not want to raise taxes on the middle class like bernie

4 way more electable

another status i wrote a while ago tofutime

The Georgia primary is Tuesday and I didn't have time to do an absentee ballot. However, I am still supporting Hillary Clinton. I've been pretty quiet lately due to all the backlash specifically among liberal college peers. I mean who wants to be attacked for liking a certain individual?

I am supporting Hillary because I think she is the Democrat's best chance at beating Trump/Cruz in the general election. I think she is the most qualified (man or woman) to become president. I like the fact that she wants to keep Obama Care. Bernie's healthcare plan may be good in reason, but it would never pass in Congress. Heck half the crap Bernie says would be ideal in a utopia, but it is not realistic. A "revolution" isn't going to happen. I want a President who will come in and start where Obama left off. People like to bitch that Hillary was the reason behind mass incarnation in the 1990's. But she didn't vote for it, Bernie Sanders did. Don't get me wrong I like Bernie and will vote for him if he gets the Democratic nomination, but I have been with Hillary since I was an eighth grader and will continue to support her until she wins or loses.
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
Also obscurity she has a way better chance with NC going blue than GA..20 years is a while ago....GA is too conservative
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
coreyants indiana used to be a swing state? it went from obama 2008 to romney 2012. by current standards it's more of a swing state than OH or FL lol

that being said, she should consider indiana a wash anyway because it's pretty well-suited for trump. but that doesn't mean that today's results aren't disappointing lol, i was hoping to see just a LITTLE bit of coalescing around hillary now that most bernie supporters know he's mathematically out of the race. we didn't see that at all today though, which i don't like but it is what it is

also re: GA...that is a horrendous example. there is a reason deep blue states like MA and MD and NJ and many others have republican governors. statewide elections for governor, senator, etc. that occur in non-presidential election years are always DISASTROUS for democrats. republicans are just straight up better at showing up to midterm elections, mostly because of demographics (old white people have high turnout rates, while young/poor people do not) but also better organization at the local level. GA can absolutely be won by a democratic presidential candidate and 2016 is our best shot precisely because trump is the republican candidate. a weak republican candidate that is disliked by many conservatives who will sit out the election PLUS extremely high turnout by minorities who are terrified of the prospect of a trump presidency = a SLIGHT chance GA goes blue
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
obviously she should focus on NC too...that is another one of obama's two swing states. but everyone already knows that NC will be a battleground

i'm talking about places where she can add even more to her electoral advantage. if she has the funds/capacity, there is no reason not to try for AZ or GA or MO
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
ALSO tbh it is kind of pathetic that you sit on ur ass blogging about hillary all day but you didn't even make the time to cast an absentee ballot for her...this is the shit that democrats do. snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
dont sit on ur ass in November thinking "oh GA will go red anyway!!!! go hillary #imwithher"
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
obscurity i think in general tho FL/OH are more important than IN delegate wise. Also for MD at least it was a while since we had a republican governor. And I don't see GA going blue at all. It hasn't gone blue in what 20 years? It's going to be hard. And my point was that she should focus more on NC than GA not to say she shouldnt campaign in GA, but NC is more likely to go blue.

also what do u think of bernie refusing to drop out? he's going to make it harder and harder for his supporters to back hillary a lot whom hate HRC
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
LMFAO Obscurity she won GA by like 70%

i did an absentee ballot in 2012 when I lived in IL for Obama chill I'll do it. The time I was going to do it for GA, it wouldn't have gotten there in time. GA votes early compared to most states.
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
coreyants "GA hasn't gone blue in 20 years"

literally VA went blue for the first time in 2008 since 1964
and now VA, with a democratic governor and two democratic senators, is probably a safe blue, not even a swing state

demographics decide EVERY election, and demographics become more favorable for democrats every 4 years. you fucks are so caught up with history god damn
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
GA is literally 40% minority as of the 2010 census and that number is even higher now
a low turnout among uneducated whites and a high turnout among educated whites and minorities (both of which historically have higher turnout rates than uneducated whites) could be the difference
Sent by obscurity,May 3, 2016
Metro DC in VA is way more liberal than ATL lol Obscurity

im in a suburb outside and my county goes red every time

& what do u think of bernie brah
Sent by coreyants,May 3, 2016
Who the fuck cares what I think about Bernie? He's an insignificant gnat that won't die at this point

I don't give a rats ass what his supporters do
Sent by obscurity,May 4, 2016
Well obscurity he won Indiana and he is going to divide the party and if she loses he'll be part to blame so
Sent by coreyants,May 4, 2016
I don't care

He will honestly be a laughingstock by November. The general is starting and he's going to get shoved aside by the media whether his supporters like it or not
