Inspired by a blog

posted by Iangavin over on the other site i thought i would be more open with you all and share why i became the disney nerd, geek, and lover that i am today. So growing up in New York, my family was only able to take me to Disney World once a year. and each trip was absolutley amazing. I grew up to it all and never got over it. Like Walt Disney said "Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are forever." I always fantasized either being able to live by disney or having to be like my parents and only being able to take my children down once a year. Then when i was in the fourth grade it hit me! Why not work for the best company on Earth, live by there, AND take my children there whenever i so desire. win-win-win right? So from that moment I had my eyes set on one goal and dream and one goal and dream other, to follow my heart no matter the price and make my life a good life well worth living. I instantly became the "Disney Nerd" around my family and school. It has its stuggles being made fun of growing up for being all into disney because my classmates thought of it as "for kids." But i did not let them bother me nor make me turn my back on Disney, i instead used it to light a fire under my bum to chase and obtain my goal and be the happiest person in the world. I read up tons of disney books, watched countless videos on disney, the disney college program (which i will talk about in a moment) and even wrote a book in my younger years which is funny to read to myself and see what i said. So like i mentioned a moment ago the Disney College Program became something i found out about almost immediatley when i googled "How to work for disney", "Disney college" (again i was 10). and I came across Disney University, which is what they use to train the CPs (college programers). The Disney College Program (for those who do not know). is a semester long paid internship inwhich Disney provides housing and has classes and lets you experience working for disney. you can work practically every "role (disney term for possition)" they offered such as Custodial, attractions, etc. I didnt care if i had to clean toilets or hold balloons all day selling them while my arm was raised up for a long period of time. I read up all about it, watched youtube videos and that is my first step in being able to work for Disney. All throughout school i worked for and only for disney. all the good grades, honor courses that pushed me passed my limits were all done for the one and only Disney. Today I am now 18, on my way to college and about to live what I have always dreamed of doing. I am going to the University of Tampa which is approximetly an hour away, I will get an annual pass, and have my car down there. So for the first year of college I plan on going to disney whenever i have time available. I then plan to apply in a few months for the Fall Advantage 2016 Disney College program which will last from May-January. and possibly do the college program a second time (they allow people to do it more than once). and once im done with college i plan on working there full time and working my way up to high management. I hope and pray every night that all of my dreams come true. "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."- Walt Disney. Hopefully this time next year i will be at disney doing the college program i mentioned and if i make it i cannot wait to share my experiences with you all. If not then i will keep applying the next semester until they finally hire me. I will not give up and I will have my dream come true at the place that promises it. Thank you all for reading this if you did I dont normally talk about this part of my life so hopefully you all like it! Have a magical day! :)

I think you should do what you have always dreamed of doing as long as it doesn't prevent you from getting a college degree. That degree will give you more choices in life, even at Disney.
