I am going with the original Black and White version of Night Of The Living Dead...

Zombies are the only real horror monsters left and they are incredibly dangerous!

A lot of modern "scary" films aren't... but The Descent is the film that scared me most, it's a few years old :)

The original Nightmare on Elm Street, I wouldnt say scary, but it is a classic :D

Not many horror films these days are scary.  The last film to really give me jolts was the '06 remake of 'The Hills Have Eyes.'  As far as favorite horror film in general I have to go with 'The Evid Dead.'

Nice choice with the evil dead, They are creepy yet funny at the same time..I absolutly love Bruce Campbell and enjoy his movies..I think he is a horror/comedy genious...his one liners are funny as hell.

Has anyone ever seen The Man With The Screaming Brain (another of Bruce's movies)

Night of the Living Dead (the original) is just a classic.  It was so effective with it's small budget and just changed the entire genre.  However I'll have to go with Carnival of Souls, a cult classic which has inspired a lot of horror films, and the makeup effects from NOTLD are so inspired by Carnival of souls.
