So I have recently come out as gay to my family, and I don't think I have ever been more relieved. For so long I have been scared of rejection from people such as my mum and dad and due to that I have bottled up my emotions for so long.
If anybody is going through these emotions and is having doubts about your family accepting you for you, I would say have the confidence to just say it. Your depriving your family of getting to know the real you and that is probably one of the most difficult things of all. Not to mention it takes a massive weight off of your shoulders as well, as keeping a secret as big as this is a horrible burden to bare.
The more people come forward and proudly come out to their friends and family means the LGBT community can prove that we are not different due to our sexual preference and the people that love us truly will love us regardless of the fact.
I think talking about this reminds me of a quote I have always lived by... "Be who you are and say how you feel. Because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"
