(Present) Walter is running through the woods, he is aimlessly searching around, trying to find Talia and Ruby, he thinks back to the bridge, where Misty was torn apart and he tried to get to her, he fought off a zombie and got to her body but she was gone, Walter takes off his shirt and looks on his back, he was scratched and and is starting to get the symptoms of the infection, Scott finds Walter in the woods, he knows Walter is gonna die, Walter looks at him and says “I promised I'd find them, and I am gonna do it until the end”.
(Flashback) Scott and Sean are standing by a river, Sean is angry and is blaming his brother for a member of their group getting bitten “He's just a kid” Scott argues, Sean tells Scott that he doesn't what it takes to lead the group, “it was your mistake, you put him down” Scott holds the gun up to the kid, he is about 16 years old, Scott's hand begins to shake but he can't pull the trigger, Sean takes the gun from him and kills the dying kid, “You need to man up, because you are too weak to survive and I'm not gonna my brother die because he is weak”.
(Present) Oscar tells Eli about Scott and Walter leaving, they are worried that they might be working for the hostiles, “I'll get Melissa and we'll check it out, Oscar tells him he'll ask Mark about it but Eli isn't sure if they can be trusted. “Scott and Walter are missing, do you know where they went” Oscar asks Mark and Katy, “Their people were taken by the hostiles, they are trying to find them and get them back” Oscar asks where they may have gone but Mark doesn't know, they inform Jill and Mini about it, Oscar agree to help them find their people, Annie comes out and asks Jill if she can go with them, she doesn't want to be left alone with the new people. Jill agrees. Mark tells Katy that he'll be back soon, Katy tells wants to tell him something, she is feeling a little off, like something big is coming their way, she decides to wait, Maria sees Kimmy and Julie crying, she goes over to comfort them, Kimmy tells her that she feels useless and wants to do something about it, Maria tells her that if she wants to help she is leaving to search for their missing people and that if she want to come and search for her mother, she can, they ask Christian to watch Julie while they leave, Alec tells them that they'll need an extra hand and decides to go with them as well, Scott bandages up Walter, he asks Walter why he didn't tell him about the scratch, “we didn't know yet if that would kill you, now we do” Walter tells him, “yeah but that doesn't explain why you didn't tell me” Scott says, Walter explains “if I find them, I'm not afraid to die, because I'm already dead, you, the kids still need you, yes Sean was the stronger leader but you are the stronger person, Talia and Ruby need you to survive”
(Flashback) it's been a few weeks since Sean had to kill that kid, he has been leading the group, Walter, Misty, Ruby and Talia are tired, Scott convinces Sean that the group is wrecked and needs a days rest or so, Sean sees an old barn up ahead and decides to stay there for the night, the next morning, Misty wakes Scott up, she tells him that an old couple were killed by some zombies in their sleep last night, Sean had kill the zombies and the old couple after they turned, Sean tells Scott that their deaths are on him as well and that his decisions weaken the group, Scott tells his brother that he is a bad person, “if being a bad person is what keeps this group alive then that's what I'm gonna do, I'm doing this for you” Sean tells him.
(Present) Maria, Alec and Kimmy hear a noise behind them, Maria has her gun out and is about to shoot when they here a voice “Kimmy”, it's Julie, she wants to help find her mother. Alberto asks Katy where everybody had gone, she tells him that they have gone in search of their people like they said they would, Alberto tells her he hopes their people will stay, and that he really wants them to be a part of this community, Katy tells him she wants them to stay too and that she feels safe here, “that's why I called it the Safe Haven” Alberto explains. Christian goes to Steven and tells him about Julie going missing “I think she went after her sister” Steven tells him that he'll go after her and make sure she is safe. Maria, Alec, Kimmy and Julie get back to the bridge, they start walking down the river, until the finally reach Sonja's body, Kimmy and Julie sit over her body and begin to cry, Alec tells them “we'll bury her” and starts to dig a grave, Maria helps him. Scott and Walter continue their search but still have nowhere to actually look, Walter is getting weaker and can't go on much longer, Walter tells him “I know you couldn't shoot that kid, just leave me the gun and I can do it myself” “No” Scott replies, “If I'm gonna save Sean, Talia and Ruby then I need to become like him, I need to do what is necessary” Scott thanks Walter for what he has done for the girls, “Never give up hope” Walter tells him.
(Flashback) Scott wakes up to the sound of screams, he leaves his tent and a group of army men wearing gas masks have Misty, Talia and Ruby bound and on the ground in front of them, they tell Scott, Sean and Walter that they are looking for somebody, a girl, none of these girls are it but they are gonna take them, they give Scott, Sean and Walter a description of the girl, and tell them that if they find her then bring her back to their campsite, “we will have people watching always, if you guys even step foot on the location without a girl we will kill them all” Walter begs for them to let the girls go but they hit him in the face, Sean offers to take Misty's place, “my brother Scott will find this girl, and I will go with you guys to make sure those girls aren't harmed while he looks” they accept the deal, Sean tells Scott “you will find the girl, I believe in you”
(Present) Scott is burying Walter, Mark, Jill, Oscar, Mini and Annie find him, he tells them that Walter was infected and wanted to use the last of his life finding the girls, Mark tells him that they will find them, Oscar agrees to get the Safe Haven residents to help in the search also, Steven reaches Alec, Maria, Kimmy and Julie, Steven sees tracks on the ground, two people, who encounter a third person, he believes it could be Zakhai and Taylor, Kimmy tells Steven to take Julie back but she is refusing to go back unless Kimmy does, they tell her to stay in the middle of them as they follow the path. Scott is heading back with the rest of the group, he looks back to Walter's grave and thinks about his brother “I will find you” he says to himself. In an unknown location Sean is thrown to the ground by a man, Talia and Ruby huddle in the corner crying, Sean looks back at the person who punches him in the face before walking away, the man says “Your brother better find the girl, or you're not gonna make it much longer”

Alberto begins to question who some of Jill's people are, while members of the Safe Haven still outside the community find themselves face to face with some of the Base residents and we find out some truths about both communities
