In the biggest twist of the season they don't know that the other "season" is going on on the other side of the island.
To help with ratings you have one "season" air on one night of the week and the other "season" air on a different night.
When both tribes merge they get called to do a challenge in the middle of the island and in walks 10 other players they all remember and the twist is revealed.

this is literally impossible because they would need to have 2 hosts, double the crew, and plus all the players would probably die from exhaustion

Okay how about this.
After the tribes "Merge" on the "seasons" they come and they have a tribal switch and before we find out who is one what tribe Jeff tells them that they just played a long 20 day game and that they are being put up nearby city in a big mansion blah blah (to make more money you charge people to view the mansion a la big brother 24/7 feeds) gives the players times to regroup and plan out alliances but the twist is they don't know what tribe they are on yet and won't know until they get to the island.
