READ MY STORY AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK #3

May 2, 2014 by nsurvivor
The story ends during an eclipse. The story must involve a quilt in it. A character becomes tense during the story.

It was 2 pm; the eclipse was to start at any moment, it was going to be a full eclipse, we had been waiting for it for months. The air was hot but the breeze cool, her shirt pressing to her body because of it. I spread my hand upon the quilt we sat on, the colorful fabric soft to my touch. I looked at her face; dark, rich brown eyes looked back at me, strands of her dirty blond hair brushed against my arm. She smiled at me, and I smiled back, comforted by the familiarity of everything. This was our favorite spot in the woods, far enough from our houses to not be bothered by anyone, but close enough to go frequently. We would come here to be alone with one another, first as friends, later as lovers. We were born and raised in Trinton, a small town in the South, where there was nothing to do and a lot of time to do it. Everyday, after school, we would spend our time together, joking around and playing pranks on the other children. We were friends for years, until one day in the ninth grade, when we kissed for the first time. It was while playing Truth or Dare but I had felt something that I had never felt before, the feelings were mutual and we started dating shortly after. Its been three years since then, we were graduating in a week, both going to different schools on opposite sides of the country. I touched her face with my hand, her muscles tensed, but only for a moment. I leaned in and our lips brushed, our faces inches from each other. The eclipse had started but we didn’t notice, we only noticed one another.
