I must be honest, I have always thought Taylor was a snake. I had a change of heart when I heard she was featuring Lana Del Rey with Snow on the Beach and cited her as one of the best artists of all time, and that it’s “an honor and a privilege to live in the same time as her.” Taylor has always been a fangirl of Lana, and although Taylor’s inspiration from Lana borderlines on plagiarism at times, I wanted to give her a chance. I was so wrong to do this, and I am still struggling to show myself grace for this mistake. I have lost trust for myself.
Lana was barely audible in the song. The song was not at all Lana’s style. And to be frank, it’s a terrible song. So I’m honestly glad Lana wasn’t a big part of it. I doubt she wanted a verse in a song with such basic lyrics. Lana is a master artist, and this piece of work is not at all hers. It saddens me that this will likely be one of the most streamed songs with Lana’s name on it. No wonder Lana has built zero hype for this, I hope she never even mentions it.
That said, I am very proud of Lana for being so kind as to do this favor for her fangirl. I can only aim to be as generous in my own life. I am also proud that Lana knows it’s not her obligation to promote this piece in the slightest.
