I'm not overly well known on this site, so I'm not even sure if this blog will get noticed. But here goes anyways.
It seems one of the big arguments surrounding the rookies change is that placing bets will no longer be as profitable. In all honesty, this is probably a good thing. I doubt when randomize added the betting feature he was expecting people to be able to win every time.
There are a lot of younger people on this site, who have never been to a casino, and won't for a long time. You could argue that old rookies promoted gambling because of how easy it was to win on bets. In the real world gambling is not a sure thing, which is why I think the rookies change is better. Because it's more realistic.
As sad as it is that T's will be harder to get, it's better for the site overall. It will promote having to earn your money, rather than just going to the money machine that is old rookies. And this is from the perspective of someone who took almost a year to upgrade from light green to green, and currently has enough karma for brown, just no T's.
A change that will need to be made, however, is that bets will need to be hidden. If the jury can see what bets have been placed, then that will definitely weigh on their vote. Some people will get saved simply because they have been bet on, some will get evicted for the same reason. Since betting is an outside factor, it should have no bearing on the outcome of the game.
As far as I'm concerned, the gambling argument isn't very valid, because it is just becoming more realistic. One minor change should be implemented, but otherwise, the betting factor is actually taking a turn for the better.
I have no comment on the rest of the rookies changes.
i kind of agree on the bets but the thing is for some users, betting is the only way to make a lot of T$ because so many people buy T$. it's hard to keep up.
Betting is nice, but it is called gambling. So it shouldnt be a sure thing, so with this new rookies, you'll win some, you'll lose some... exactly like gambling
