From the first games I played until the ones I'm in now, there's been quite a lot of differences. The first one was really fun (of course it had some slackers, though) and most of them've had about 100-200 comments.
But some of the games were rather boring. Lots of negative voting and little conversation.
And then I suddenly end up in a game where we beat those 100 comments the first day. That was so much funnier. If you were gone for two hours you had many pages to read not to miss anything! Everyone was really active and there were no dull moments.
So I guess it depends on what people are in your game. And the Rookie Games - which I'm looking forward to - will probably be much more active in general. (Can't wait)

I can't wait for the games that require karma to start. That way we KNOW people will be active.
