Well, I don't think it's funny.
Hi, my name is Drew, my brother (28) has down syndrome. He is the nicest person in the world. Everyone in town knows and loves him. He's sporty, fun, and a talented dancer, he can do anything you can do, but he just needs a little extra support and effort. Every year he competes in the Special Olympics, and every year he takes home the gold. Have you ever won a gold medal in the Olympics?
What I don't get is why people think they don't have feelings. He knows people make fun of him, and he knows I stick up for him when he does. He's not at all dumb. He's not slow. He's not stupid. He's a human being. And no one has a right to be so cruel to such an innocent guy.
So next time you call something stupid or dumb retarded, think that your comparing someone who can't help anything about them to something stupid. That's awful.
Im sorry, I just had to get that out in the air, hopefully you get the message, and ignorance doesn't overtake you to think this is stupid.
If your gay, or have a disability, you HAVE to know what this is like for someone.
