This season’s twist involves “tontines.” A tontine is “a fund to which a group of persons contribute, the benefits ultimately accruing to the last survivor or to those surviving after a specified time.”

In addition to the regular tribes that you were placed on, all of you were mailed a side group, or “tontine,” that you are in. There will be FIVE total tontines, each with four people (two from each tribe).

This twist doesn’t require much from you. The important part: the TWO tontines with the MOST players still remaining in them by the Final 14 will attend TWO consecutive joint tribal councils. This means two separate TCs, one immediately following the first, with NO ONE from the two vulnerable tontines having immunity. After this, we will merge at Final 12. So, essentially, it is in your best interest to get rid of the members in your own tontine to avoid going to the Tontine Tribal Councils.

ALSO: If you are successful in getting rid of ALL three other members of your tontine, you will be rewarded with a hidden immunity idol at merge. I will not reveal who was in which tontine (besides the two tontines who end up going to the Tontine TCs), but you are free to share information about your own tontine as you see fit.

If there are more than two tontines that are tied for having the most players still in them, then all tontines involved in the tie will go to these special TCs.
