Today we are here in the North Hamptons at the alluring Fuller Gardens. The Fuller Gardens are a diverse and large set of botanical gardens filled with 100’s of different flowers such as lilies and lotuses. This beautiful garden is also a popular spot for weddings as it has over a 1000 rose bushes that are in bloom all season. Recently the new hit movie “Alice Through The Looking Glass” was released and you will all be doing a fantasy garden themed photo-shoot for your challenge. Here in the Fuller Gardens I want you all to do a fantasy shot where you will be doing a shot that looks like you are trapped in Wonderland just like Alice herself. I’m looking for a whimsical, and colorful shot and I want you to utilize the gardens flowers and plants to the best of your ability. Alice’s wonderland is full of fantasy and imagination and has a quirky nature to it and I would like to see that in your photos today ladies. In the movie Alice travels back into the whimsical wonderland to save her friend the Mad-Hatter and I want you all to capture that playful nature in your shots while utilising the gardens flowers, plants and the nature that surrounds you. Perhaps you could even use the animals that live in these beautiful gardens or even the beautiful flowing stream that runs across the garden in your picture. Today I'm at the Fuller Gardens doing the shoot inspired by Alice. I'm using vintage clothing giving it a modern take by showing skin. I also chose to use cold tones to give it a dark aura, that I think it's a big part of the story.
Welcome back top 10 I hope you all had an amazing time shooting at the Fuller Gardens with your Alice In The Wonderland themed challenge. Some of successfully managed to blend the whimsical nature of Wonderland while still bringing high- fashion elements to the shot while others missed the mark. Let’s see how you all did in this week’s challenge.
Hali: I love the dress and the use of a flower background. The dress especially is a blend between high fashion and the patterns found in Wonderland. Unfortunately, I wish you would’ve done a more interesting and creative pose as you are just standing there.
Natalie: This picture is overall pretty. I love that you went for the tea party aesthetic as that is truly an iconic scene in Alice In The Wonderland. Unfortunately, this photo is missing that edge that the aesthetic of Wonderland always has despite being whimsical in nature.
Re: I love the colors in your photo and that outfit is something I could totally be seen being worn in Wonderland. I wish you tilted your head higher and used more of your body in the shot, it would’ve made it a much stronger shot.
Clary: Wow the dress is so high fashion yet it has a whimsical nature. I love that you used the beautiful tall trees of the Fuller Gardens to your advantage. I do wish that your face was stronger as it’s a bit weak in this shot.
Lauren: Overall I think you did a good job in this photo. Your whole outfit is totally something I’d see Alice herself wearing as she in wandering around Wonderland. The whole body positioning looks good although I wish you would’ve relaxed your mouth and removed your hand from your face as you look a bit unsure of yourself.
Mimi: This is a solid shot! I love your use of the garden’s plants it really adds to the aesthetic of Wonderland. Your clothes are also so whimsical and colorful. I do wish you would’ve picked a higher quality picture as this one was very low quality. Overall Good Job!
Candy: WOW! This is the Candy we love. Candy you totally nailed this shot. I love your use of the pond and your colorful dress and the water lilies definitely reminded me of Wonderland. I love that even though your shot has a whimsical nature it still had an edge.
Gemma: This shot is breathtaking! It’s so high fashion and beautiful yet colorful and whimsical. Your use of the gardens environment really took your photo to the next level. I can feel a sense of mystery in this shot even with all the colors and that is a big theme seen in Alice Through The Looking Glass.
Amber: This shot is so beautiful! Unfortunately, I don’t see the Wonderland theme in this at all. I do like how you used the flower petals but this photo lacks the whimsical nature and the edge that is seen in the Wonderland Alice is trapped in.
Shei: Very Strong Shot! Their is such an have an ethereal and whimsical nature to your shot which reminds me of Wonderland. I love how you look like you are flowing with the wind, it reminds me of Alice as she is running around within the mysterious Wonderland. The white tree branches are a nice touch as well. Although I do wish you would’ve tilted your head a bit higher and opened up your eyes a little more to make your photo more visually appealing. Overall well done!
