work for Macy's. As someone that has worked there.. they are horrible.
This might be long and frankly I don't care, I just need to vent.
So I started to work at Macy's in September. Right off the bat this place showed me how unorganized it was. I told them numerous times my correct phone number to get a hold of me and they failed each and every single time. I swear it must of been about 10 times of me verbally and physically writing down my number that they finally got the hint. When I went for training, it was poor. It's basically all off the computer. With step by step directions that you do hands on practice w/a register next to the computer. My register wasn't working and they just basically told me to just keep going and screw the register, I'll get it when I'm on the floor. Yeah right.
I was in the Women's Shoe Department, basically the most busiest department in that entire store. I was right away in the back learning where everything was. There were moments when me and the other guy that just started had no idea what to do because 1. No one would tell us anything and 2. The 2 managers there were always gone. Never helping us with anything. So that was a disaster. It was more of a "learn on your own and catch on".
After 2 weeks I was immediately thrown onto the sales floor with no proper training on how to do anything. I'm a quick learner if I observe and have hands on training, so luckily for me, I did catch on quick. But that's not the problem. You have to do everything yourself. If you try to ask an associate (if a manager isn't around) to help you with something, they basically don't want to help you. They are there to make their sales goal and could give 2 shits about you learning anything. So you were pretty much on your own. I would bust my ass day in and day out, go in every single time they called me, ALWAYS made and surpassed my sales goal, with the exception of 4-5 days. ALWAYS cleaned up and did other people's duties when they would just up and leave.
But this is where the fun starts. There was a sale 2 weeks ago for 2 days. On the first day a shitload of people appeared wanting these shoes that were in an ad for 9.99. Obviously a misprint. They were suppose to be 39.99. After clearing everything up, we were told which shoes were 39.99. Of course they weren't coming up that price. So we ALL had to manually change the price from 119.99 to 39.99. Again, ALL of us had to do this. I was simply told, these shoes are suppose to be 39.99, just change the price for them. That's it. Okay, sounds easy right? Apparently not.
I got called down Saturday afternoon while working so people could talk to me about these "manual markdowns". Stating that I was suppose to do print out something, write something down, do this, do that. All of which, I was never told to do. EVER. So I explained that majority of these "manual markdowns" are from the sale and half of what they accused me of, didn't even ring a bell. Let me add that half of the time, we don't ring up our own shoes, they hired people to be "shoe ringers". So I'm asking what shoes.. "we can't tell you". So they're sitting there accusing me of so much and won't even provide me with ANY sort of evidence or proof. Just "we saw you on tape" and holding papers in their hands but I can't see it nor know the exact brand/type of shoe they were referring too.
So in the end, I get suspended because of something their company failed to do, properly train me and inform me of the proper steps in manually changing a price. I was told I would hear something Monday. Nothing. Tuesday. Nothing. Leaving messages to the woman in charge. Finally today I hear something. I get fired because of THEIR mistake.
So again. If you are looking for a job and you see Macy's is hiring. Run. Run very very very far away because they will screw you over w/lack of training, no warnings, and will just up and kick ya out whenever they fucking feel like it.

IF NOTHING ELSE, I HAVE TO SAY THAT I AGREE WITH PAYPAL...YOU SHOULD AT LEAST WRITE A LETTER TO THE HOME OFFICE...

^^^ Cap.. it's funny you say this. I wasn't the only one fired. As far as I know there was 3 of us that were, due to the same thing. A possible 4th. It makes ya wonder if they are firing all of these people, in the same department, for nearly the SAME REASON... shouldn't they look at the managers next? It's complete bullshit. I'm gonna try to do everything I can because it wasn't my fault that the managers couldn't train people properly.
I went to Macy's one time and saw that every time someone wanted to buy something the employees there took a pen and wrote in a new price - probably the same mistake happened here. :|
