Other than the obvious pedophiles and porn posters. I'm logging out for a couple of days, i really didn't expect something like this at all, especially as the majority of us are grown ass men by this point... so disappointing.
A few days ago i was just casually checking the blogs page, started to play a few games again, wanted to try and enjoy this site how i used to. I then made a blog about what needs to be changed on the site, which got ranked 2nd. Randomize liked what he heard, and asked if i would help moderate. I obviously accepted because i've been here for 10 years and have never stopped loving this site.
I then make another blog being as transparent as possible about the new rules that were going to be implemented, and exactly when they would be taking effect, to ensure everyone had ample time to get used to them. Good step. Most people seemed happy seeing as the blog ranked 1st. Finally a bit of hope.
Moderation day comes around and rando decides he only wants one mod for now (not my decision), and then everyone loses their minds. I received death threats, people telling me to go kill myself and random people i have never even spoken to falsely accusing me of being a pedophile... and this is all before i had even looked at the new mod panel properly, let alone ban anyone. I didn't even have my foot in the door before the abuse came rolling in, and it kinda hurts ngl lol. I went out of my way to try and get rando's attention so that we could try and rebuild this site from the mess that it currently is, but for some reason some people don't want that.
People began breaking the rules... simple, easy to understand rules, just to cause a commotion, and then attacked me for enacting the rules that were literally approved by the site's creator... what am i supposed to do? I've now revoked all bans for racial/homophobic slurs. How can we sit here and say we want to remove racism from the site, if we aren't even going to ban people for using the N word? "Oh only black people should be able to use that word..." Yes, you're absolutely right, but how do we know who is black and who isn't? How do we know who is gay and who isn't? How on earth are we supposed to fix things that way? So i've unbanned the people i banned. It's up to rando and whoever else randomize appoints to the mod team to come to a consensus on the rules. I'm sure once they do, people will be in upheaval about those too. So I'll be logging off for a few days, i don't want to subject myself to any of this unwarranted hate from people i have never even met or spoken to. Once the new team have attempted to find some common ground with the community (which i am very doubtful of), then i will be happy to help them.
A few days ago, nobody really had an opinion of me. The minute i get made a Mod, everyone starts shitting their panties and making out as if i've murdered their first born child. Does a bit of power on an online big brother website scare you that much? If so, that's rather pathetic.
All i have tried to do is make suggestions on how we can make this a better place, suggestions most of you agreed with. The minute it comes time to start making active steps to enacting some positive changes, however, nobody wants to hear it. I really struggle to see a path forward for moderation. No matter the user, no matter how well loved and respected they are now, that will all change within moments of them having to make decisions. I never did understand why every mod has been universally detested, and pretty much left the site not long after their stint in power, but i guess now i do.
Some of the way you people behave is incredibly toxic. And admitted, i was this way when i used to eat, sleep and breathe tengaged. But that was when i was 15. I grew up. Some of you need to start doing the same, because threatening someone's life, or falsely accusing them of being a pedophile, at the age we are now, over an online reality tv website, is more than just insane, it's unbecoming.

There hasn’t been an ounce of hate toward CheapCheep and he’s been mod for a few hours. I think the issue many of us had was that your responses to certain situations (ilysuite, roxas, -L) made it appear you weren’t taking anything seriously / mocking people who were accusing predators.
I appreciate that you did try to help improve the website with your suggestions, but in a position of power people are going to scrutinize your actions. If you have a banned predator on your friend list that’s clearly going to be a red flag.
People will always dislike mods to some extent, but the treatment of Cheap compared against you proves that the position can be respected if the qualified person is selected.
a lot of these people are:
1. jealous you have power and they don’t
2. don’t think people over the course of 10 years have the inability to change and grow
3. don’t think you can separate personal and professional simply because a lot of them can’t
don’t listen to them, you’ll do a great job! have faith in yourself and soon everyone else will too :)
Banning people for words is terrible imo. it's tengaged.com the most liberal homosexual site on the planet. Idk what kind of homophobic racism youre trying to fight on here. Thank you for unbanning people though. It makes me feel more comfortable blogging about anything in general I think speech should be left alone and only pedophilia should be dealt with. Sorry for hearing about what you're going through though, it's a tough spot to be in.
Explaining racism to you, a white person, is going to make me say racist things because of your sheer stupidity. So.... I won't. Because I'll be better than that and this blog took another step backward when it comes to race relations. And Tengaged is not usually the place for morals. Fucking idiots.
