The Rules to Boticelli - A Great Game to Interact with Your Fellow Houseguests!

Dec 16, 2009 by MikeNIkers
Alright, so I've played this game with several people in castings, and every time someone new comes along and wants to join in I have to flip through the pages and find where I originally posted the rules and repost them. I thought I'd just make a blog about the game to make things a littler easier on myself. :) This is a great way to interact with people in Castings, and although I have yet to try one, I imagine it'd be perfect in Rookies to get your post activity and plusses up. It takes a little while to learn but lots of fun once you get the hang of it. Here's how it goes:

As the "it" person, I'll think of someone famous that we'd all know. It has to someone more famous than Botticelli. :-P I will then give you the first letter of that person's last name. Let's say my person is Alec Baldwin, I would tell you, "B".

STUMPING: Here's the trickiest part of the game. You have to think of people that also have a last name starting with B that I wouldn't guess. Let's say, for example, you think of Drew Barrymore to stump me. You would have to come up with a question, with her name being a possible answer that I wouldn't guess. You could ask:

"Were you a child actress in your youth?"

And if I said, "hmmmm, I have no idea," you would've stumped me! And then you'd get to move on to asking yes or no questions.

But if I figured out the answer, and said, "No, I am not Drew Barrymore," you'd have to come up with another question before moving on.

Also, when asking your stumpers, be sure not to be to vagure, OR too specific, for example:

TOO VAGUE: Are you a female person?

MY ANSWER: No, I am not Nancy Botwin.

You see, in this instance, I didn't say Drew Barrymore, buuuut, I still came up with a name with a last name starting with B, that answers the prompt of your stumper, so you have to come up with another!

TOO SPECIFIC: Are you the chick from ET and Charlie's Angels and 50 First Dates and all those other movies?

MY ANSWER: Uh, well no I'm not Drew Barrymore.

You see, in this instance, you just gave up too much, so it was easy to figure out who you're talking about and respond to the stump accordingly.

Anyway, ONCE YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY STUMPED ME, you move on to asking yes/no questions about my person. However, to do this, you should know some tricks from the game:

START OUT BROAD: Once you are met with one "no," you have to ask stumpers again until I've been stumped, allowing you to go back to yes/no. So start out with broad questions to get a good idea of who this character is, and to always walk away with some info.

Example question I would ask: Are you an actor, writer, singer, model, or politician?

This is a YES or NO question. So, if I was any one of those five things, the answer would be "Yes."

Assuming I said yes, you could then narrow it down: "Are you an actor, writer, singer, or politician?"

ANSWER: Yes.

So at this point, you've narrowed me down to four categories by eliminating one. Say you continued this process. "Are you an actor, writer, or politician?"

ANSWER: No.

Alright, at this point you have to go back to stumping questions, but at least you know my character is a SINGER. By the way, you're free to use anyone, dead or alive, real or fictional, as long as they're someone famous that everyone would no. :)

Also, using google to solve the stumpers is super lame. Normally you play this game sitting around with friends or in the car, so you don't have access to such resources.
