Tengaged 12-Step Program Jan 7, 2009
There are many changes that could be made on the site to make it better. In this blog, I have stated the 12 that I would personally like to see the most. Post your additions, comments, and opinions! ^o^

1. Either remove Sponsor games or integrate them into the site. I don't think I've clicked on the Sponsor tab for weeks now, and I'm sure others are with me. They are pointless in this isolated state. You could change it so that they have a bigger influence. Currently, Sponsor day change is every 3 days. My idea is to make day change every 6-7 days like Shops. Then have the most-played game from each week become a temporary challenge in the real Tengaged games during the next week. This would not only make Sponsor games more popular, but it would provide variety in game challenges since there would be a different new challenge each week.

2. Change the game prizes to be more fair. Let's take a look at the game prizes. In Stars, only 3/16 people get any Karma, and only 1 person will break even with T$ (not even earn anything). I actually feel the Survivor prizes are quite appropriate and fair. Moving on to The Duel, only 3/12 people earn Karma, and only 4 will break even with T$ (only 3 making profit). In Rookies, the prizes are fair in my opinion, just like Survivor. However, Casting game prizes are the most disproportionate. I've seen users with 2 Casting wins who are still White Level. With the old prizes, they would be Orange Level. Randomize changed Casting to be *potentially* quicker and easier, but the truth is that most games go slow because of Newbies who don't know what is going on, and since the game is almost the same format as Stars (the hardest game on Tengaged) why have the prizes changed at all? They should be restored to their previous amounts.

3. Change the way betting is done in Rookies games. Emma does an amazing job of explaining the best format in her blog: http://www.tengaged.com/blog/Emma/834223/the-tengaged-betting-system-needs-change

4. Make Casting and Rookies slow games with 12-hour days that cannot be sped up. There is a place for quick games on Tengaged, but it is not with Casting and Rookies. The reason for Casting being slow is simple: new users on the site will play Casting and only Casting for a while (unless prizes are changed), so they need to be able to meet people, talk to them, and have a chance at advancing in the game without being voted out right away because they went to the bathroom. The format is simpler and better for new users to adapt to, but the quickness is absolutely not helpful. With Rookies, I explained it best in a previous blog of mine: Since when does a season of Big Brother take place in 12 hours? The essence of Big Brother calls for a longer game, period.

5. My OCD calls for two quick housekeeping notes: Update the FAQ/instruction windows in games, and fix the many gramatical and spelling errors found throughout the website.

6. Make a T$/Design Transfer update so that we can share things with our friends and more easily offer group game prizes. Restrict the feature to say Orange Levels and above, so that multiple accounts aren't made just to gain a few quick T$. WillyEx made a great screenshot in a past blog of his: http://i41.tinypic.com/2djzdhe.jpg

7. Bring back Old Casting (the one with keys, apples, and challenges) with a curious and somewhat ill-fitting name like "Interface" or "Connection." xD

8. Bring back old Rookies with a new theme. Since new Rookies is very much like Big Brother USA, I don't think old Rookies should be brought back in its pure Big Brother USA form. If both forms of Rookies were available, they'd be too similar (both have HoH, PoV, etc). However, I think old Rookies deviates from the true Big Brother USA format enough to stand alone. I had the idea of giving it a food/chef theme. It could be called "Chopping Block." HoH could be renamed "Head Chef" or "Executive Chef," who puts two people on the "chopping block." Like old Rookies, there is also an algo nominee on the chopping block too. The PoV holder could be called the "Sous Chef." Then the other people vote to "chop" or "cut" someone. It sounds somewhat silly, and I'm sure there are better ideas for a new theme, but old Rookies definitely needs to return in some form.

9. Update groups. I say "update" because there are many changes I'd like to see. The group purchaser seems to be the "head Admin," and can never leave the group. Allow that person to leave it if he/she wants as long as they have named a new "head Admin." Allow groups to be deleted by the head Admin. Allow more freedom with the HoH/PoV/placement signs under the group players. We should be allowed placement numbers up to 20th, and we should also be able to edit which three letters go under people's names. For instance, we could make Imm for an immunity holder instead of having to use HoH.

10. Make Survivor end. There is a place for an "endless" game on Tengaged, but it should not destroy the Survivor concept to accomplish it. The "Survivor" game isn't Survivor. The more fitting name would be "Half of Survivor," since it really only covers half of the actual Survivor format. We need to have the merged tribe compete individually, vote people onto a Jury, and choose a winner at the Final 2. Once again, I love the concept of an endless game, but not combined with Survivor.

11. Premades and pre-existing friendships are unavoidable on the website. However, we should be given the ability to detect them if we want to, and I have an idea as to how we could do that. There should be a "search engine" kind of page we can access where we can put in the names of 2 users, and the "seach engine" will tell us 3 things: If they have each other as friends, mutual friends between the two users, and what games (if any) the two users have played together. This will allow us to more easily tell if people have formed a premade.

12. Since premades are such a huge part of Tengaged, I have a second idea dedicated to trying to eliminate them. Most people on Tengaged agree that they are an unfair gameplay strategy. I admit I used them too, and they are a great way to make fast T$/Karma, especially in a quick game with large payout like New Rookies. However, they take away from the overall effect of joining with strangers and making new friends/alliances. Therefore, my idea is to have 2 open games for each type of game enrolling at once (except Stars). When you enroll in a game, you will be randomly placed into one of the two games. While this may not entirely eliminate premades, it definitely lessens the chance of their success.

It's a long read but I hope you enjoyed!
