I just thought of writing a post on bullying on Tengaged & how dangerous this could be to young teens on here. How dangerous it could be especially to the many 13 year olds here. I have been in several games here where I either witnessed someone bullying someone else & in games where players have "attempted" to bully or intimidate me using foul language, hate mail, demeaning name calling & a lot of very unnecessary verbal abuse. I can't believe how many people here totally forget that this is just a GAME!
Bullying is absolutely disgusting & could be very cruel. It is roughly defined as any hostile behavior or language intended to hurt another person, physically or mentally. How many of us have been subjected to that on here? or at least saw it happen in a game? it is absolutely unnecessarily. You are bound to have some enemies here, it's part of the game & sometimes motivates you to compete harder but is it really necessary to verbally abuse someone in the game? i really don't think so.
According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, "there have been several high‐profile cases involving teenagers taking their own lives in part because of being harassed and mistreated over the Internet, a phenomenon we have termed cyberbullicide – suicide indirectly or directly influenced by experiences with online aggression." - This is exactly what I mean about how dangerous cyber bullying is!
If you get bullied here, know for a fact that that person bullying you is acting very immaturely & is jealous & envious of you or simply wants you to hate the game so that you eventually give up. Always remember that bullying is also a tool to conceal a certain weakness that this person has so he bullies to boost his/her own self esteem by demeaning & hurting others thus they feel empowered. it has nothing to do with you. it has everything to do with them! When you're bullied, stand up for yourself & never let it really get to you. I am old enough not to be affected by it at all here but I know some people are younger here & sensitive & it can really bring them down so don't let it ruin your game, & it's always best to just ignore the bully since 90% of the time, they just need the attention so don't satisfy them by giving them any attention.

wow par this is a great blog!! i totally i agree with you about cyberbullying. people just need to realize it is just a game and dont take it to heart!

I completely agree Pardis, this is an amazing blog. Some of the behaviour ive witnessed over the years has truely been disgusting and harsh. I always thought the best way was to ignore it, i believe the victim of bullying shud ignore the bully, anybody who experiences it shud tell their friends, its importance to stand up for people whom are subjected to this behaviour. It is not acceptable. Tengaged_Moderation do a great job at keeping this site safe and fun, but there are more subtle ways of bullying that need to be monitored and taking into consideration!
I agree with everything you've said Tepr ! This site has to be a friendly & welcoming environment as much as possible! There should be like a "No To Cyberbullying" campaign on here or something where a large group of players (from all levels) blog about it, create some designs, ads...etc & spread awareness about it so that people associate bullying to negative qualities, something that is frowned upon & unacceptable coz it seems like some people here think bullying is actually cool & makes them powerful & a peaceful player now can very well turn into a bully later as a means of 'fitting in' or just to 'survive' Tengaged.
Or maybe Tengaged can have a "No To Cyberbullying" day. And maybe do some fun stuff like they did on Halloween here & there. It can be very simple. Maybe just logo or sign anywhere on the page. Simple yet a powerful message.
It's ok if you want to be a villain in a game, that's totally fine but in my opinion to be a villain in a game entails following a more cut-throat "emotions aside" approach (backstabbing, back-dooring...etc) to playing but it should not include any ways of bullying or name calling, it's totally unnecessary!
