This list is a personal opinion. Therefore, any songs that were big and are low, doesn't mean they aren't famous, it means I don't enjoy them as much. PYN Below if you want to be tagged.

Title: Gimme Shelter
Album: Let It Bleed
Year: 1969

I have a list of my favourite songs of all time lying around, that i continuously add to until i reach 100, and make a podcast about it. This is a sure fire top 10. I think this might be my favourite song ever? Goodness gracious this is so fucking good.

A list that this is the best at

- Best Duet
- Best Apocalyptic Song
- Best Cross Genre Song
- Might Be The Greatest Song Ever

This is just incredible. I researched about the woman who sang with jagger in the song, and how she even got the gig is crazy. Her voice is like no other, and perfectly compliments his. She wails "rape, murder, it's just a shot away", like its the apocalypse, which in the end is what the song's about. This is all possible in just one shot. Which sums up tengaged's debate today, about gun control. We can kill anyone, with just 1 shot. This song gives me shivers on the first effing beat.

The little nuances of the song is great, with the guitar breaks and ending, drums here and there and great bass. Along with the duet of Jagger, Merry Clayton (the lady singing), ending with screaming "it's just a kiss away" to finish off this very long list. Hope it was fun.

Title: Sympathy For The Devil
Album: Beggars Banquet
Year: 1968

This song has the greatest lyrics (ever?) of any stones song. Jagger was definitely stoned while writing this, but it doesn't matter! He put so much historical knowledge into this song. I bet when it came out, they thought it was a sin to listen to it. Yet, somehow as it deserved... it was MASSIVE. The band entered it's prime in 1968, and this was their hit that resonates for me in that year. They make us feel bad for the devil, and that he truly isn't a bad guy but, more of a man then we give him credit.

The guitar solo is also amazing, and tops almost any stone's solo. Richards dominates the guitar. As they say in freaky friday "play it like keith". This was the last full album with second guitarist Brian Jones. He will always be remembered in my heart.

The oo a woo vocal riff is also amazing, and ties the whole song together. This is a song that my dad cannot listen to, because of the excessive radio play, and him killing it as well. This song is no where near #1 in my opinion, but is a giant step above "brown sugar". The next blog will be directly after this.

Title: Brown Sugar
Album: Sticky Fingers
Year: 1971

Maybe the most controversial song written by the stones. They discuss slavery, interracial relationships, and that thing in black museum where the guy get's joy from pain. The song has an AMAZING saxophone, which ties the whole song together. Vocals, guitars, bass & riff are spot on. This may be #3, but it is nowhere close to #2 & #1. This song has the second best lyrics of any stones songs, only topped by one of the top 2.

Title: Shattered
Album: Some Girls
Year: 1978

When I was talking about controversial rankings on this list, I was speaking about this. I am one of probably every 1000 people, who'd put this in their top 25, not even speaking about top 4. But, OMG, I love this song. This is like experiencing New York without having to go there. Jagger wrote all the lyrics, describing the city as "sex, sex, sex and sex", or "don't worry bite the big apple, don't mind the maggots". The lyricism is fantastic, and that's only the first part of it.

The "shadoobie" and the guitar/bass riff, propell this song from being top 10, to top 5. Those little additions make this a spectacular song, that isn't played often on the radio, which makes it a hidden gem.

Title: Jumpin' Jack Flash
Album: Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)
Year: 1968

As you can see, 1968-1971, was the peak of the stones IMO, with 4/5 of my top songs being from that period. This may be the greatest guitar riff of all time, I could just listen to the first 10 seconds over and over again, and be happy to die in that moment. It's almost "beautiful".

The ending is also extraordinary, with it finishing off with the band members repeating the same phrase over and over again , with the hook/riff in the background. Jagger obviously dominates the song with his vocals, and deserves its spot at #5 IMO. The name "Jumpin' Jack Flash" will not be forgotten, and his story revealed in the song's lyrics is amazing. Very fucking fast paced.
