MOD Points

1stApr 21, 2015 by T_ModTEMP
This blog is to explain a feature on Tengaged that we have which not many users are aware of. Moderator Value or “MOD Points” are something that current moderators are able to give to non-moderators who report things and are helpful to the mods by ensuring the rules are followed on Tengaged. Once you reach a certain amount of mod points, you are able to delete blogs on Tengaged.

I am also making this blog to let people know that I will be keeping on top of mod points more than past moderators have. By sending in reports of things that are actually bannable or are questionable, you may receive mod points. I will give them based off who is helpful, not who spams my inbox the most to try to up their number of mod points that they have. Sending in false reports will result in your mod points to go down. Keep in mind that simply clicking the report button on a blog that contains bannable information will not give you mod points, but actually taking a screenshot and sending it to the T_ModTEMP account may get you some points.

Once you reach a certain amount of points, you are able to delete blogs on Tengaged. This feature is something that we give to the most trustworthy users that are not going to abuse it. I believe these users are very helpful as one moderator is not able to keep on top of all things on the website at all times. These people are basically extra sets of eyes to help out the Staff of Tengaged and will remove things that are bannable, and it will be sent to the moderation feed where mods will deal with it. If you are capable of doing this, and abuse it, it WILL be removed. If you go out of your way to blatantly abuse the system and delete a lot of blogs for no reason, you will receive a ban as this is a serious offence.

I have received a few questions about mod points and wanted to make this blog to clear up some confusion about them. They are not given to you automatically and must be given manually by a moderator, but I am going to be putting in an effort to make sure that people who deserve them actually receive them.

If you have any questions about mod points, please comment below and we will answer them publicly. If you would like to know how many mod points you currently have, (many of you will simply have 0) you can send us a mail and we will check into it for you.

Thank you,

T_ModTEMP

I don't agree with this. People on this site shouldn't have the power or be given a right to delete a blog. That is your responsibility to have these sets of eyes. These points sound like you're playing favorites when I believe people on the site will just manipulate this power for their selfish needs. Explain to me how you are going to incorporate and limit the number of people who have this power. Because people can be "hacked" (mentioning your previous blogs about people referring to being hacked as an excuse) and/or someone getting onto their account magically and abuse this power. I just don't agree with it because people will be upset since the internet is a place where people can express themselves and you need a committee team to morally justify if the blog is considered bad to the community. Please take the time to tell me more about your future plans because I can see flaws. I don't see this working out to benefit the site. I just see an lack of an excuse to do your part in observing what is considered bad for the community. If anything, I say you give these mod points to people who generate the most reliable reports of bad blogs and them communicating together what is a bad blog. It is your part of what should be deleted since you're looking at it from a third perspective. People in this community know about each other and can take this into their own intention to delete people's blogs of who they don't like.
This comment is not to achieve mod points or any sort of admiration to be on a committee.

Always wondered about this tbh.

On the back of carleebear's comment and regarding this "hacking" stuff, I would be concerned that the passwords on Tengaged are not secure enough. Whenever I change my password I'm not allowed to use "unusual" characters like ! and @ and so on. This means I can only use letters and numbers which in this modern world are not secure passwords.

I agree with carleebear

Also what I like to point out, this is an estimation, the average age of each user is 16.7. Are you really going to let a teenager justify what is ethically right? Their brains are still functioning and improving and you need someone with intellectual enhancement to morally consider what is right from wrong.
I don't mean to be condescending, but most 16 year olds don't know what is ethically right and love testing the boundaries of power. Giving a 16 year old the responsibility of this power will result to a revolution of many more concerns about unfair treatment. This doesn't sound ethical nor taking into consideration of what can go wrong.

What if they abuse there power to remove blogs then they should get in trouble
Sent by wwemrpeeps,Apr 22, 2015
they'll just report ppl for stupid stuff and then get mod points and delete ppls potentially hard to make blogs cause some ppl put effort
matter of fact some might just delete everything and create a "delete day"
