this week I asked you to submit a song that falls under the R&B Category, I specifically stated that I did not want any pop-py r&b and strictly wanted contemporary r&b, with some of the songs submitted.. i have been left yet again.. a little disappointed, i think there were many other good options that could of been submitted.
1ST: The Weekend by SZA turkeylover: this is one of my all time favourite songs, i love it so much and I am surprised that someone submitted it to be honest, good job <3
2ND: Girls Need Love by Summer Walker deshonBANNEDISBACK: ugh i love summer walker and I love this song, another great pick !
3RD: I wish I missed my Ex by Mahalia Violets: I love this song too, only reason it's lower than the others is because it constantly comes on my shuffle on spotify and I am starting to get a little sick of hearing it.. but that doesnt stop me singing along to all the words <3
4TH: Bust Your Windows by Jazmine Sullivan DarriusDaBest: when you submitted this I was thinking wtf is this but when I pressed play all the memories came rushing back... i love it !
5TH: Family Affair by Mary J Blige AmandaBynes: a classic.. but it just didn't top the rest, a very safe choice.
6TH: No One by Alicia Keys Arris : a classic... i like this song but just gets a little repetitive and boring after a while.
7TH: The Worst by Jhene Aiko Irelia: i love jhene aiko but this is not one of my favourite songs by her, it's kind of repetitive and i don't really like the "i don't need u" bits... step it up big rel.
8TH: The Boy is Mine by Brandy & Monica Christian_: I like this song.. but after they did the remix with beyonce and 99 souls I prefer that version so much more but I still enjoy this song, it just gets a little boring in comparison.
9TH: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars paul028 I asked you to resubmit because your first song was not r&b and you were given a second chance, I really can not stand bruno mars and I do not like this song either. For the rest of you, Week 5 we are dipping into another genre of mine that I tend to love and for some of you gays this may be a struggle... but I am a big fan of Afroswing music! This week I want you to submit a song that comes under the genre "Afroswing" google will help you a lot with this.
Afroswing is a genre of music that developed in the UK during the mid-2010s, derivative of dancehall and afrobeats, with influences from trap, hip hop, R&B, and grime.
