In an effort to deter away super-alliances: I suggest tengaged do not reveal who has enrolled in the game until all ten spots are filled. Furthermore this would mean not to allow any comments (public or private!) to be made until the 10 player field is set. I think this will give some players a little more of a fair fight :)
another idea would be for the "private message" tab to change color when you get get sent one. Sometimes it's hard to tell that the # on your private messages had changed so if the whole tab turns gold until you click it, it might make things a little more easier :)
