White people on YT didn't get that movie at all y'all. Missing the point completely and giving it a standard marvel response.
To make nothing but 8-10 minute long videos on a nearly 3 hour film that offered so many complexities of indigenous and Black ancestral trauma to simply only talk about the surface level of things going on is such a slap to the face to the people this film was made for.
Coogler made me proud to be both Black and the descendant of a culture erased by genocide. It wasn’t just about Chadwick’s passing. The decision to root Namor in native Mayan culture was Coogler’s decision to connect the Black and indigenous communities. That their pains are relatable and while they can’t burn the world down, they can support each other where it counts. There was not one dry eye moment I had this entire film.
